Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

I buggered up to start with so ive got to work around my problem, though it will work out as i can use it else on my laptop also.

Is it possible to run a usb tuner as well as a PCI through VMC so as to watch one while recording another channel.

Because i brought this silly M2M-MX Plus motherboard i'm stuck with only 2 PCI slots which i'm using for wireless network card and the other for tuner card. I will upgrade soon enough, plus then i'll have a Tuner for my laptop.

Cheers for any help....

P.S. No i can't go a wire network at the moment.

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

As long as they are both have standard BDA drivers and you have good reception on both it should work.

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

Ok, thats a good start, i'm thinking the ASUS My Cinema-U3000 Mini USB 2.0 Digital TV Receiver from GameDude (because i can pick it up) for like $55. My biggest concern is conflict between my DTV 1000s. I'm on my first HTPC, i've been building standard systems for bout 7 years but never bothered getting do deep into the software side of things so for the time i've been building i really don't know as much ass i should.

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

G'day,

I would be very wary of that ASUS tuner. I found it to be deaf as a post. It could only pick 10 digital channels, while on the same antenna my Leadtek DTV dongle gold USB 2 tuner picked up the full 23 channels available at my location. About $35 dollars from memory.

I threw the ASUS tuner in the bin. Maybe i just had a defective one. Maybe?

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

My co-worker has a Compro USB tuner and it seems to do a pretty good job (not sure what model it is). But like with most things USB YMMV

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

Thanks, great feedback, gamedude have a "LEADTEK DTV Dongle USB 2.0 Digital TV Tuner" for $69 ( i'm not looking for a better price, i use them, i like them and never have problems with them). Being Leadtek like my DTV 1000s i'm hopeing they should work together with little trouble.

With that part covered i'm now wondering if once i have both installed do i need to do anything special to make them work together??

Cheers

Re: Usb and PCI tuners on VMC

They will work together fine.
Just make sure the BDA drivers are installed for each tuner.
Check in device manger to check they are installed.
When setting up MC and scanning channels you will see both tuners listed if all is well.
