DViCO Dual Express can't work with vista MCE

I'm glad found this forum - if it's not too late.

I just bought a HTPC from a computer shop but found vista MCE couldn't get any channel with DViCO Dual Express card. The card works with FusionHDTV software but not smoothly either. Screen becomes black when change channels and need to restart the system.

I upgrade FusionHDTV software to 3.68.02 according to DViCO support (driver not touched) but nothing changed.

Just wondering if this problem can be fixed? Otherwise I may ask the computer shop to replace it with another brand TV card. Is Hauppauge PVR 2200 a better choice?

I haven't got a chance to read all relevant threads if the answer is already available.

Thanks

Re: DViCO Dual Express can't work with vista MCE

I managed to get channels with VMC and so far it works fine.

Assumed stutter is usual

VMC can't play AAC music which converted in iTune? I may need to dig more here to find solution

You'll need to look at codecs to get aac to play - I think FFDShow can be set to decode aac.

Stuttering is not usual. It indicates a problem. Do you have stuttering while watching live TV?

I've already installed FinalCodecs which includes ffdshow_rev2019_20080622_xxl. Does it mean I still need to force VMC to use ffsdhow to decode AAC? Thanks

Most of time watching live TV is fine. Stuttering happens when switch channels.

Toggling PIP can be even worse. Most of time I ended up with having black window.

Re: DViCO Dual Express can't work with vista MCE

Just realized I lost EPG of FusionHDTV but not sure whether it's related to software upgrade from 3.68 to 3.68.02. I definitely schedued recording HD channel 7 Monday programme with EPG.

I never had EPG experience with VMC which saying it's not available.

Another wierd thing is I can't see any Dvix or MP4 movies listed with VMC even I imported them into it's liabrary. I have no problem play such movies in WMP with FinalCodecs support.

See if AAC is enabled for FFDShow by finding the FFDShow audio decoder configuration off the Windows start menu. When you get that open, have a look at the attached screenshot & change the AAC disabled to one of the other choices.

The FusionHDTV software is buggy at best from my experience. You have tried to scan for channels inside media centre? Is VMCE giving you 'no tuner found' message?

Thanks

Thanks logifuse I've solved AAC playing problem with VMC.

However VMC still couldn't detect any movies saved on hard disks even I manually imported them to WMP liabrary.

Also I lost EPG since I upgrade software from 3.68 to 3.68.02.

Just wondering whether they are common existing issues.

When you open up the Video Library in VMC, you can right-click or press the info button & choose libray set up & add a folder to watch. You can also do this by adding shortcuts to the folders that contain vids in you c:\users\your username\Videos folder.

Where? In Media Center or in the Fusion software? Are you using FreeEPG? If so, rerun that & rescan for your channels.

Justin

Marvellous! Most problems have been solved with Justin's tips. Appreciate it!

FreeEPG helps in Meida Center but not Fusion software. Read through Fusion Q&A, it indicates that "In some cases where HD channels can not update EPG information directly,
Please change the channel to sub channel and it will work".

I tried it and it works. For example, if I need to record 7HD with Fusion EPG, I need to switch to 7 sub channel then open EPG to refresh EPG. Then close EPG, switch back to 7HD, open EPG again - 7HD EPG got updated.

I need Fusion software power up function so I have to endure these bugs

One bug really drove me crazy. After 4 hours recording of Olympic ceremony I clicked extend button but the extended part overwrote the beginning of original recorded content. So when I replay the recorded content, lighting cauldron appears at the beginning then continue with atheletes marching into stadium. The best part was gone!
