Hauppauge HVR2200 program can't install

Hi,

Finally got my HTPC today, but the guy was telling me he couldn't install the Hauppauge program from the CD or from the website. Halfway throught the install it just stops.

Anyone had a problem like this before?
He says that I can still watch TV from Media Centre.

So what will I be missing without the program? Or can i just live without it? Can i still record tv?

On another note, (whinge), i checked the HDD and they had missed one although I paid for 2 HDDs. Brought it back and said they would install in onsite. Comes back 15 minutes later to say will have to collect it tomorrow due to some problems with the HDD already inside.
Not happy with the service from this shop.

Re: Hauppauge HVR2200 program can't install

This question gets asked all the time
The answer is on the New Magic driver download page here -
http://www.newmagic.com.au/Support/H...a_Drivers.html

It says, "The Vista testing was done using the Vista Media Center application for TV watching and recording. The Hauppauge WinTV application is not yet supported under Vista."

So if you are using Vista, don't worry.
You aren't missing out on anything. IMO Vista Media Center is fantastic.
Of course you can record TV, even 2 channels.... at the same time.... while watching an avi, or a previously recorded TV program

Sounds like the shop where you got it from is useless. They build a HTPC for you, with the HVR-2200, and they don't even know that the WinTV application isn't yet designed for Vista!! ? And their best explanation is... "it just stopped half way through". NICE.. LOL..
AND you selected dual HDD, and they install ONE? WTF!
It only takes as long as it would take to open the case to install a second HDD.
And since when do you go to install a second HDD to find the current HDD has a problem.
I would be very suspect.

p.s. You've come to the right place.
