Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

I would like to hear comments related to this card from Vista and MCE 2005 users.
Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI
I would like to know if there are any known driver / software problems with Vista or MCE 2005

That card has drivers on Windows Update in both 32 and 64bit Vista - it just works.

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

Bargain Buy
I located one for $32. Best $32 I ever spent.

Initially, I had problems after the installation (No fault of the card) due to the setup of my system. Pentium 4 3.0GHz
My system was running on board sound using the Vista AC97 codec version 6285 .
I couldn’t get the TV card to emulate 5.1 without burbling. High definition video was affected due to the heavy load placed on the processor when this fault occurred.

I removed the AC97 codec and disabled onboard sound in the Bios.
I fitted an Audigy2 sound card to my system and updated the drivers to Vista from this location. -----> Creative Worldwide support

Now it runs brilliantly perfect audio and no Video stutter.
Works extreamly well in Vista and it's own enviromental shell.
The media centre remote, controls the sound and channel changing outside of Vista media centre.
Has a very quick station change.

When I checked the updates in Vista there was an update called Leadtek _ streaming media and broadcast devices - Winfast DTV1000S so I downloaded it.

Very happy with this card. Bargain!

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

Have been using this card for last couple of weeks. Seems to work like a charm .. just installed a second one and now need an aerial splitter. Best thing is that the remote has a really easy option to turn it into VMC remote!! (even has a VMC face overlay)

Seems like extremely good value for money with Vista.

Contacted Leadtek support in Taiwan. They said that 1000s is XP and Vista Compatible, but only compatible with VMC (not MCE2005). I couldnt even get XP to recognise it properly.

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

Do you need a splitter? I thibk you can connect the output from one card to the input of the second.

Can anyone confirm this as i have a leadtek 1000s and a 2000h and would like to try and avoid a 3 way splitter.
1 for main tv and 2 for the 2 pci cards.

I dont think the 1000S has the output. I know the 1000T does but according to the Leadtek website the 1000S doesnt.

Aquaholic is correct, there is no output for that config option. But its a great card for the money

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

I second all of whats been said. It is an excellent card, cheap as chips. Although its only digital its an excellent card, you only need analog for Foxtel etc..

I dont quite understand how some cards are vastly more expensive than the 1000S, for example the the Hauppage 2200 is $200. Fair enough its analog and digital but does it justify the price?

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

I'm just dropping a link to the main driver download page.
WinFast DTV1000 S Driver page.

Looks like the card gets a good rap from the users in the forum so far.
Mine has run for over a month now with no problems to mention.
Also works well when the computer goes to sleep then resumes at a later time to record.

Re: Leadtek Winfast DTV1000S TV Tuner PCI

Can you see the card in Device Manager?
Control Panel / Device manager / Sound Video Game Controllers.

Are there any warnings or yellow check mark boxes showing up next to the device listed?

Sorry about that. I have the T version of this card. Splitters work fine as I have two PCs connected using splitters and the quality is fine.
