"Tuner Not Found" in Vista Media Centre

I have just built myself a media centre, but I am having trouble with the AVerTV Hybrid+FM PCI (A16D) tuner card in Vista Media centre. Originally I installed the latest drivers and software for the card, and Vista seemed to detect it fine. But when I went in Media Centre and selected "set up tv" a message comes up saying "tuner not found". However the tuner worked perfectly under the Avermedia software. I was able to watch and record TV. After doing some research on the net, I found that Avermedia software can conflict with Media Centre, so i uninstalled the software and drivers, and just reinstalled the drivers. I checked device manager, and the card was detected and all seems good. However I am still getting the message in Media Centre saying "Tuner Not Found"

I have done hours of searching on the net for the fix, but with no luck. So does anyone have the same problem? or is it something im missing here? To me it seems like a driver issue. So if anyone is able to help me, that would be great.

Cheers
Nathan

could be codec issue
you can also try cleaning mce tuner section in registry then uninstall aver drivers and restart your pc
on restart load drivers by hand (make sure you get latest one from aver website) and try your luck again, restart wont hurt before you open mce again

Ok, I deleted all the entries in the tuner section of the registry, uninstalled the drivers, restarted my machine, and reinstalled with latest drivers, but the same message comes up. I downloaded the VistaCodecs? Will this have the right codecs in it? I have also tried the avermedia codecs with not luck

Is there a way to uninstall meida centre and reinstall it? or even reset it. will this help? Im really starting to give up now as the media centre is sorta usless without being able to use the tuner in media centre.

i don't believe vista codecs will have MCE encoder or whatever it is called, its more divx, xvid, etc.... pack

there was some tool that let you reset whole media centre or some parts of it as needed
can't remember what was called as i never had need for it

Re: "Tuner Not Found" in Vista Media Centre

OK, after a bit more research i am not really any closer to getting it working. One thing I did find is at I cant start the "Windows Media Centre Reciever Service". It comes up with a message saying,

"Windows could not start the Windows Media Centre Reciever Service service on local computer.
Error 0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified.

There seems to be many pages on the net, listing the same problem, but with no real solution.

From what i gathered, this service is need to watch tv in media centre? And if it cant find it, thats why my tuner card isnt being found either?
