FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

Some time ago I wrote to Dvico:

Quote:
I'm running Vista Home Premium SP1 with a Fusion 4 dual tuner. MOBO is a ASUS M2N-VN DH.

The second tuner constantly disconnects. Only way to get it back is to uninstall and reboot.

Can I get a cure please.
Today I received:

Quote:
Hi.
We recopmmend you to install the 3.363.01 driver in advance.
ftp://ftp.dvico.com/Products/FusionH...USB3.63.01.zip
Sometimes gently clean the contact (golden fingers) by a rubber eraser can help as well.
If you still have the problem, please reply again.
Thanks.
I don't really use vista anymore and the the DD4 is working too well on my Mythbuntu box to mess around with it yet again. But maybe Dvico's response will be of benefit to someone else.

Cheers

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

That is interesting considering they previously stated their drivers did not support Vista SP1.

Has anyone tried the new 3.68 drivers?

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

Thanks for the post.

I did a clean install of Vista and for nearly all that time I couldn't get my FushionHDTV card to go. I had the ep03 and ep45 errors, 1 tuner wouldn't start so I downloaded the code 10 error hotfix from MS, I tried all the software versions I cold find (3.50, 3.63, 3.67 and .68), I changed PCI slots, set permanent IRQs, updated and rolled back video card drivers, all without success. Basically, it was driving me crazy.

This post fixed it for me. While the drivers were the same, the kciker was cleaning the card contacts. I have a mildly abrasive strip especially for electrical contacts. I gave the contacts a cleanup and lo and behold, two tuners up and running, all the channels in miy area coming in strong. Good result.

Thanks

Bob

.... until I installed SP1 and it turned to custard. Rolled back to an earlier restore point and all good again. I suspect the MS update has plenty to do with problems people have been having with their cards.

Absolutely!!! Try this!!!

The error I was getting was Code 10 "this device cannot start" on one only of my tuners (I have a DVICO Dual digital 4 running in Vista MCE) and it would appear in device manager with a small yellow exclamation mark. It just stopped working one day and I falsely assumed it was software.

5 hours of trying everything else under the sun in terms of reinstallation, different software versions, rolling back all updates etc... and it turned out to be a hardware problem. Simply pulled the DVICO HDTV Dual digital 4 card out, rubbed the contacts with an eraser and the error dissapeared so that I am now back up and tuning to two channels at once!!

If you are having problems with your DVICO card try this first as it is easier than playing with thier dodgy software.

Thanks All!!!

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

I have had nighmares with sp1(got a dual 4 pci).I though after dvico release the 3.68 drivers i would be safe but no go, it would work then after a while I got the no signal and then when it was time to record it would give me messages that their was a tuner failure and would goto the next tuner(a ledteck- which works faultless i might add).

I have rolled back Sp1 and i am waiting for something to happen.

I already have my eyes on a new card, dvico is giving me the ****s!

mixo

p.s might be too soon , but so far its recorded on all tuner fine..
got my fingers crossed for tomorrows recordings

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

My Dual 4 PCI card is having the code 10 error after I install SP1 so I uninstalled it and now they work again. My Dual express works flawlessly in SP1 or without with the new driver 3.68 (the latest one in any case).

Could rubbibng the golden pins with an eraser fix this bug or should I look for the code 10 fix that someone else mentioned?

thoughts?

I like SP1 things seem snappier and less random blue screens for me (fresh install from a week ago - only Vista and drivers installed) but not worth it if my Dual 4 doesnt work!

i only bought this card two weeks ago so its not very old!

cheers,
Justin

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

There is a MS Hotfix for the code 10 error. Google it up and send them an email and they'll send you a zip file with the hotfix in it. Didn't make any difference for me, but you never know.

Give cleaning the contacts a crack as well.

Cheers

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

I have this error code 10 issue on 2 different machines with 2 differnt digital4 cards.... one is XP the other is vista based....

the "work around" fix I have found successful is to do a full shotdown of your system, then remove the power from the system, wait a minute, then power back in and turn the system on.... no need to removed the card... it does nothing.

problem is, after u shutdown afterwards then boot back up, u have the error code 10... so u need to do a full power down again. almost like the PCI or USB bus needs a total reset. hmmmm is there a bios setting that controls the USB or PCI bus fulling resetting on reboot/shutdown??

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

I have to pull the power out and then in works fine, but i like my computer to sleep when its not recording anything(saves me on my power bill as well).

I will try the rubbing trick and see if it works.

I re-installed vista and is still game me the code 10.(NO Sp1).

Re: FYI: Dvico responds on USB disappearing act.

code 10 usually points to a USB driver problem. Both XP MCE and Vista MC have suffered from the problem.

Microsoft knows of the problem and a hotfix as mentioned above, i available.

What's interesting is that the DD4 works perfectly under linux so one has to wonder if the problem is windows or the drivers.
