The option is available in both single and series, with shows running over time almost routinely it pays to hard pad everything.

If your using ICE TV interactive or related apps it might well be the issue. I remember there is a setting relating to padding. I have ICE but don't use any of the interactive apps.

Re: EASY Instructions for Adding Extra Tuners to VMC Update

I have it on authority from the official Australian Hauppauge distributor (via email) that some tuner cards people are getting from other sources are essentially foreign cards not suited for Australian conditions. in fact, a major brand VMC build company has been known to source cheap imports that are not designed specifically for the Australian market. please also keep this in mind if you have had problems getting more than 2 tuners to work. I wanted to post this in my original sticky thread but the forum denies access after so many days - also means I can't update data when it becomes available - which, quite frankly, is quite a pain!

You are right - I needed to look harder to find the setting for series.

OK - I get it now (I think)

Select your series recording. One of the menu options will be Record Settings, select this.

Select Settings for series.

On that screen will be the setting to place hard padding.

ICE TV Remote unfortunately does not natively support the use of hard padding atm, only global soft-padding. I've asked for them to add a "global hard-padding" option but as with most of my requests it has fallen on deaf ears.

I personally use WebGuide to schedule series because when setting them up it is very easyt to add hard padding to a series and I can control my system the internet. B)

So If I understand you very wise gents correctly, my system with 5 tuners & a media center extender should be configured like this?:

Record Order--------4--------------3--------------2-------------1---------------0
Record Pref----------0--------------0--------------0xffffffff------0xffffffff-------0xffffffff
Watch Order---------0--------------1--------------2-------------3---------------4
Watch Pref-----------0xffffffff------0xffffffff-------0-------------0---------------0

Re: EASY Instructions for Adding Extra Tuners to VMC Update

I think you've got it. I'm no expert with extenders, but from re-reading Logifuse's post I think that's the set-up.

So can you give us any more details on this, are you talking about hauppauge cards?
I have had a Hauppauge Novat500 for about a year and just purchase a new card and the tuner configuration gets stuffed up about once a week. How can I tell if I am effected?

My fault always seems to relate to the appearance of a tuner scan request folder appearing under the tuners user settings in the registry.

The reason I suspect my card is the problem is that even after doing a reimage to a time when the 4 tuners all worked will not fix the problem.

Any ideas please.

Re: EASY Instructions for Adding Extra Tuners to VMC Update

CAUTION to all

When you restart I have noted the settings sometimes get changed
1. The record prefered setting is rest from fffffff back to 0
2. The record prefered and watch prefered seting equal the same number i.e 1 or 2

Lastly I am attaching an image of the error that occurs about once a week where either 3 of 1 only of the tuners will record.

Seems some tuner rescan kicks in and causes the tunerequest registry to appear.

Does anyone know how to stop this?

Re: EASY Instructions for Adding Extra Tuners to VMC Update

OK I just don't get it. Everyone says how easy MCE Tuner Config is but it's doing my head in.
I've got 4 tuners ( 2 x haupaugge T500's). Running MCE Tuner Config shows 4 tuners all enabled for MCE. Each tuner has a differnet colour and 4 variables each: Watch order, Record Order, Watch Preferred and Record Preferred.

There are 2 config boxes, Watch perferred and Record Preferred with 4 option each.
No matter how I arrange these variable I can't get all the ducks to line up.
I can get the 4 tuners to arrange for watch and record order eg 0,1 1,2 2,3 3,0

I can't get the watch/record preferred options lined up. Changing any of these stuffs up the watch/record order. And then I get so confused trying to get the first step right again.

I dont see, when there are 4 variables for each tuner, 16 in all, how to get them all set correctly with only 4 options available for each watch/record preferred box. To me that's only 8 possible combo's, not 16

HELP!!!!!!

Re: EASY Instructions for Adding Extra Tuners to VMC Update

Firstly thanks for this info so far (since last night - I have four tuners working!). Tested it and it worked perfectly I could record 3 programs at once and change channels on my watch tuner!

@matth: from my brief personal experience I only used
