Registery keeps dropping tuners

Hi Guys,

Have a couple of the new Haupauge PCIe Dual tuner cards in system.

Have gone thru and got all 4 tuners working.

Have exported the reg keys for each individual tuner, as well as a key for all 4.

now, had the same problem that follows when I had 2 Nova-Ts in the system.

Every now and then, the registry will change and I will lose 2 of the tuners (1 card ??)

So, I have a task to reboot the HTPC around 3am each day, and a batch file in startup to add the tuner reg keys.

However, sometimes in the evening I have 4 tuners, sometimes I have 2.

Trouble is, ya dont know you have 2 until it tries to record a third program, then it is too late to reboot...

So, what is causing the registry to change?

Am now running Vista Ultimate, with all updates.

Re: Registery keeps dropping tuners

Are you running the new beta drivers for them?

Hauppauge HVR-2200 - What a fantastic PCIe Dual Digital TV Tuner

Also, I think you're over complicating things with the export/import registry set up.

Do this:

Simply install both cards with the above drivers.
Run the VMC set up & select the 2 tuner option & scan, etc.
Close VMC & use the Tuner Edit App to enable & name the extra tuners.
You might still need to go in to the tuners section to manipulate the watch record order properly (make them 0/3, 1/2,2/1,3/0 & make sure you include the Watch Preferred & Record Preferred entries for the appropriate tuner (0xffffffff or what ever it is).
Reboot.

Justin

OK, Done

I was doing that because the registry was dropping one of the cards. However, after reading the other article, hopefully the new drivers will fix the problem :-)
