Question Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 - What a fantastic PCIe Dual Digital TV Tuner

Those of you who already have the card - are you using the drivers from the included CD (which look quite old) or the ones from this New Magic Hauppauge drivers page (HVR2200MCE_V6.1.5.25340.zip - which look newer)?

It's Microsoft's architecture for TV Tuner drivers. They need to be BDA to work in Media Centre.

Here's some more info.

I tried the CD drivers, the Newmagc ones & then the UK ones (the newest) in an effort to get 2 cards happening. I'm now using the Newmagic ones (single card).

I suppose seeing this card is designed for MCE that it uses BDA drivers. Can someone confirm if that is correct please?

The reason I'm asking about BDA drivers is that a lot of third party applications support TV cards that use BDA drivers eg DVBViewer Pro

cheers

Question Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 - What a fantastic PCIe Dual Digital TV Tuner

This is the first time I've replaced a tuner card. I took out my old Dvico, installed the Hauppauge, installed the drivers - and both tuners worked first time. And, as everyone's been saying, the channel change is pretty damn quick (especially when compared to the dog-slow Dvico).

I was tempted to rescan for channels - but as it worked immediately with the channels I'd previously scanned with the Dvico, I didn't bother.

I wonder if it's worth rescanning - as I don't want to run the risk of losing my series recording schedules.

Did anyone rescan or did you just use the channels from your previous tuner?

I was tempted to keep the existing Dvico Express scan. But decided to freshly scan with the Hauppauge. I think the general rule would be if you are installing a new card, you should try redo as much as possible just to be thorough, but I'm not really sure it matters. If it works, and there doesn't seem to be any adverse effects, then leave it.

Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 - What a fantastic PCIe Dual Digital TV Tuner

Hi,

We have a new pre-release driver for you guys to test. This driver is strictly a pre-release version and as yet has not undergone Hauppauge stress-testing:

http://www.newmagic.com.au/support/z...PreRelease.zip

Please test this driver with 2 installed HVR-2200 cards and report back your findings. Once we are certain the multiple-card issue is fixed we will release an official build with normal certifications.

Thanks for your assistance
