Wierd problem where 1 tuner wont work

Hi,

I have a fairly standard config with multiple tuners. Initially I had 4 tuners running together fairly well but the 4th tuner would always come up with no signal. It never was the same tuner, just the 3rd or 4th tuner to be activated.

Now I have 6 tuners and the problem still seems to be the last tuner does not work, comes up with no signal.

I have confirmed this behaviour with ScanChannelsBDA-UK - although this program is a bit buggy with a few instances running.

My priorities are all OK, and each card individually seems to get signal fine.
Record priority 0 to 5
joined with
Watch priority 5 to 0
and relevant prefered key's.

Not sure where the problem could be really. Might reinstall or SP1.

Hi Nigel,

I undertand what you're going through. Someimes I think one tuner may be less sensitive to signal strength which may even vary according yo weather conditions amongst other variables (such as your region, splitting arrangement etc) . More than 2 tuner perfection will never occur until MS get their **** together and stop dragging the chain and bring out a decent update (more than a pretty skin of 5yo programming) and provide native use and builtin diagnostic treatment appkication processes for each tuner and when they interact when more than 1 tuner feature.

Re: Wierd problem where 1 tuner wont work

What mix of tuners are you running? You might be running in to resource issues if the PCI bus is involved. If all USB, you might be hitting limits too. I've run 4 x TinyUSB/Twinhan 7045's (all using the same driver) with no issue, but I've never gone for 5 or more in the same PC.

Also, you could try changing the use order from 0-5/5-0 to 0-1/1-0, 2-3/3-2, 4-5/5-4.

Re: Wierd problem where 1 tuner wont work

Your right, perfection will never be achievable. I would pay for a more supported version of media center - almost tempting to go with other media software sometimes.

In terms of resources, its well distributed:
3 USB (One PCI is a loop back to USB)
1 PCI
2 PCIe

Update: I changed the priorities and same problem exists - confirms that it isnt one card in particular I guess.
