Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

Id go so far as to donate to the person who can resolve this issue!!!

It seems ive finally found another person with the same issue as me.

When using a Vista and DVICO Dual Dig 4 when ever it comes to a white background ie commercial or something the picture gets stuttery

see this post .. he is the same

everything is great... except...

We are both using different video cards and drivers ... so now im solely focused on DVICO DD4.

Any ideas/suggestions because im out .. ive tried combinations of drivers (both video and Dvico), performance tweaks for vista ... everything i can think of... (yes we know that some people hate dvico .. and the solution is to put it in the bin )

I dont want this issue to beat me ... it all worked fine in XPMCE 2005

I will donate to the person who can figure out the solution and im willing to do anything !!!

Ive emailed DVICO on numerous occasions and its like hitting your head against a brick wall. Does anyone have a good australian contact??

Cheers

Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

Hi,

I also have DD4 and I have to say everything works perfectly. The only complaint I have is the slow channel change in Vista Media Center.

Can you tell me what ad it is because I didn't notice anything like that. That could be because we mostly watch Channel 7. I can try recording some shows on channel 9 just tell me the ad so I can look carefully when it appears.

There is no way I will through the card in the bin it has worked perfectly since day one in Vista 64bit.

One important thing is if you are using the nvidia drivers from nvidia website remove them and use the drivers provided by Microsoft. So far all the drivers from nvidia website caused more problems than they fixed.

My HTPC is connected to the plasma screen through DVI-HDMI cable.
The video card that I have NVIDIA 7600GT card

Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

same problem here. I notice that the graphics on the sunrise program stutter at the start of the show and also when the map comes up for the weather. Every morning, reliable as ever.
I have found that the channel 10 coverage of the AFL is also unwatchable due to the stuttering.
I am running core duo e6300, 6600 Nvdia 1500meg ram & of course Dvico.
Most of the Seven High Def shows like Lost etc are brilliant, no problem.

If its the card is hopeless can anybody recommend the best replacement.
The Vista Media Centre is a huge improvement over 2005 IMO, but still is an exercise in patience.

I think that if I lose my guide data again I might just be forced to go Postal on it.

I have one also and haven’t had an issue with it but I have a pretty good feeling it’s a decoder issue are you using the original Decoder by MS to check use this decoder app here to find out if you are or if it’s using another decoder. if it is using another decoder set it back to the MS one if it is using the MS one I recommend downloading another decoder like intervideo and make sure you set it as your default decoder using the downloaded app I hope this helps. Let us know how you go

another thing we have in common, is SATA drives. my old XP MCE box had a PATA drive for recording TV.. could it be a throughput issue with the SATA drives?

although having said that i would expect the problem to not be limited to a certain colour.

hmmmm

Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

interesting that the MS decoder isnt doing the trick ??? Ive had no probs with it....

I sold my DD4 and pulled out my mediocre gfx card just so I could pop in one of renuras awesome dual tuners in there..... the difference was instantaneously evident ! PCI can only do so much ...

Exclamation Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

Ok people .. check this out.

Dvico Dual Digital 4

Choppy on a CH 9 white background ALWAYS ... i tested this using

Default MS Mpeg Driver
Nvidia Purevideo Mpeg Driver
Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3 Mpeg Driver ..

All ended with the same result.

After reading the forum i thought WINDVD is the worst one out there i wont bother with it BUT after reading another thread where it helped another DD4 owner i decided to give it a go.

Im pleased to say ... theres still a bit of CHOP but its about 90% better.

I had to do the hack of using DECCHECK to set it as default and THEN VMCE.exe as it doesnt come up automatically (and i still cant select the audio portion without a reghack - which i havent done .. kinda cause i havent looked into it .. anyone ..)

But its the best of the lot. Weird hey. I wonder if ill get better results from DSCALER?

For me its was/still only channel 9 when it goes to a prodominently white screen.
Im using WinDVD8 from their website ... will it leave the Mpeg driver with the trial expires?

weird huh.....
