Exclamation Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

Ok people .. check this out.

Dvico Dual Digital 4

Choppy on a CH 9 white background ALWAYS ... i tested this using

Default MS Mpeg Driver
Nvidia Purevideo Mpeg Driver
Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3 Mpeg Driver ..

All ended with the same result.

After reading the forum i thought WINDVD is the worst one out there i wont bother with it BUT after reading another thread where it helped another DD4 owner i decided to give it a go.

Im pleased to say ... theres still a bit of CHOP but its about 90% better.

I had to do the hack of using DECCHECK to set it as default and THEN VMCE.exe as it doesnt come up automatically (and i still cant select the audio portion without a reghack - which i havent done .. kinda cause i havent looked into it .. anyone ..)

But its the best of the lot. Weird hey. I wonder if ill get better results from DSCALER?

For me its was/still only channel 9 when it goes to a prodominently white screen.
Im using WinDVD8 from their website ... will it leave the Mpeg driver with the trial expires?

weird huh.....

Re: Calling all Dvico Dual Digital 4 owners/users - MONEY AHEAD

I am an MCE 2005 user who has also had the dreaded Channel 9 and Channel 7 problem when the screen changes to an white background. I have tried all the usual suspects but found the problem was not related to the DVICO software, my graphics card or codec. The problem was the VHF signal.

My antenna signal strength indicated a good signal at 26 to 27db for both channel 7 and 9. Channel 10 came in at 30.8db and had no problems, SBS came in at a lower 24 to 26db and was also perfect. After trying just about everything I could think of I came to the conclusion that perhaps the problem was a combination of signal strength and frequency (Channel 7 and 9 are on a lower strength VHF frequency).

My combo VHF/UHF antenna was pre-digital unit (about 8 years old) and while it worked well was not specifically designed for digital.

The solution for me was to buy a UHF antenna (Matchmaster 02MM-DR20) and point it to Wollongong. Problem solved immediately.

This solution may not be available to everyone, if not you could try the more expensive option of fitting a high gain VHF and high gain UHF antenna on the same pole (space about a meter apart). I suspect the extra VHF gain MAY solve the problem.

It goes without saying that you should check your cable condition and connections as well.

I hope this helps, I know how frustrating this problem can be.
