Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Is there any word on when the stutter fix will be included in a new version of the driver for Vista?

Mark,

I just want to say thanks mate.
You have always been of fantastic help to the users and retailers of your cards.
That kind of help and service should not go un-noticed.
I recommend everyone to the Nova Range.

Thanks for going that extra step and helping everyone out (even on the forums).

Cheerz,
Matt

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

after deleting all channels and re-scanning it automatically started on channel 10 (which wasn't working after the driver upgrade) then after i change the channel i can not change back to channel ten, all channels now work except for channel ten and southern cross ten.

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi Mark (if your listening?),

In general the tv tuner card (HVR-1100 MCE (Model: MCE 94xxx)) is performing very nicely with the vista flavoured media centre. However I have had a number of crashes and glitches. A few times vista completely rebooted itself and went on to report that my tv tuners had caused the problem. Obviously a log file is then sent to Hauppauge because vista then reported "Hauppauge are aware of the problem and are looking into a fix ??" Anyway do you know if they are working on more updates to the drivers and if so when would they be released"

Thanks in advance,

Cougar.

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi,

mrees - thanks for the kind words.

Alaha - we expect a WHQL certified driver any day now including 64 bit support.

chay - I suggest you run ScanChannelsBDA and send me the logs from each tuner - if you dont have this utility email me at tech@newmagic.com.au.

cougar - I'm not aware of any specific issues - just check your driver version matches what we have at www.newmagic.com.au/vista. Were you running the same setup under MCE on the same hardware before installing Vista?

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Mark,

yeah I downloaded the vista_driver33c drivers off that site. And yes it was working under XP, its one of those prebuilt systems from Optima (Optima viiv).

DRIVER 2.118.24324.0 20/11/2006

The only hardware change I made was to put a new nvidia graphics card in. I also threw the cheap wireless trackball keyboard they supply in the bin. Very satisfying. The remote keyboard from Microsoft so much better.

I'm happy to supply log files if required.

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

First of all, thank you Mark for your help on the forums. I used to buy stuff from you back in the Amiga days and it's good to see you're still working with the cool stuff!

I'm running the 32 bit Vista but tried installing the 64 bit beta version of the drivers (34c). Things seem to be running a lot smoother - less stutter. I have a Nova-T Dual DVB-T. Am still pretty keen to find out about this stutter fix though, as I still get a bit. Can anyone suggest a place to find out more about the problem? I'm presuming it's related to the tuner card.

cheers

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi Mark

You might be able to crack this one, after Vista updated my drivers(for PVR-500MCE) through windows update I get the following:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

I have not been able to find a solution and tried everything (moving card, removing card etc. and I can't find any "conflict" as it worked fine under MCE05)

Any clue on how to get my tuners working again ?

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi,

Simon - the patch is only intended for the 32 bit driver at this stage

Tom - could you tell me what cards you have installed in your system? Also what motherboard?

Hi Mark

The only other PCI card in the machine is my soundcard (Creative SB Live! Series) and the motherboard is an Intel 845PE) gfx. card is an radeon 9700tx card sitting in the AGP slot.

I have tried to remove the sound card from the machine and also switching pci slots both for the pvr-500 and soundcard without any luck.

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

I have now made most of the stations relatively stable on my nova-t 500 dual card by using the 33c install and the New Magic driver (although 9 is still prety bad). Unfortutanately I have just been stitched by another problem that seems to happen periodically. A recording on ABC has recorded without the sound!! Sometimes when I tune into channels (I am keeping an eye on it to see if it is every channel) there is no sound. Changing channels and then coming back fixes the problem if you manage to catch it, but obviously recorded television can get missed - which was the case tonight for the only show I really care about actually watching :-(

I have checked the recording Media player and there is no sound in there either.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi,

Tom - my only conclusion is that perhaps your motherboard is not fully Vista compliant and isn't habdling resources under Vista properly. The issue hasnt come up from anywhere else.

Re: Official: Hauppauge Vista Drivers Available

Hi,

Simon - have not had this issue ever come up with the Nova 500. My suspicion would be sound card drivers not handling the audio format changing from program to prgoram properly (MPEG to Dolby, Dolby Stereo to 5.1 etc)
