No Signal - Blue Screen.... Interesting fix!

Hi,

I had an interesting week trying to rid myself of "No Signal" blue screens when trying to rescan available services. All ABC (ABC, ABC HD & ABC2 - in Sydney) would either go blue screen or would have frame skip. Channel Ten was continually blue screen. I thought the dampish weather we have had lately was causing a problem with dampness in the antenna cable connectors and I started replacing a flakey antenna wall socket, then redoing connections, trying rabbit ears, checking the antenna.... still no channel 10, sometimes no ABC. I could sometimes get ABC on 543MHz instead of the usual 266MHz but continuous frustration. Today it was warm and sunny weather but I still had no channel 10 and skippy on ABC.

I have a GME signal booster on the antenna cable between the wall socket and the TV & Tuner cards because the guys that sold me my MC box said that since I was splitting the signal three ways (Analogue TV + 2 DVB-T cards) I would need to boost the signal.
During my exploration I switched over to standard TV & noticed that analogue TV reception was a lot worse than it used to be before I had the MC box (and amplifier). So I yanked the signal amp out of the circuit and got great analogue reception again.

Next step was to put the MC box back in circuit directly to the antenna and scan for services.... bingo! All stations, no blue screens, no skipping frames.

So my antenna booster is surplus. Perhaps if you're having signal problems, go back to basic set up and start from there. Hope it helps someone.

Cheers,

Chris
