Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Yeah I'm also having signal issues with my Dvico Dual. Finally got it working in MCE with both tuners which was something of a rite of passage I think Dvico came up with, but after I enabled the USB tuner in MCE the picture looks like crap! It looks really zoomed in or something but my HD channels look like normal digital (except they cant lock onto a signal and drop out after 1-5 seconds).

I'm going crazy becuase my STB looks fantastic and even the picture in FusionHDTV looks pretty good but in MCE it is shocking. Also, is anyone else getting, i guess stuttering is the best way to put it? My picture sort of shakes pretty often, the audio is clear but the picture isn't smooth at all.

I have an new external antenna with amplifier in the roof as well which is giving me no joy

My STB is crap, so the picture I get from Media Portal is much better.

If your FusionHDTV picture is much better, maybe it's application related, or possibly MPEG2 decoder related? Have you tried changing decoders, or tried Media Portal?

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

I have just recently got my fusion dual hd to work really well.
The only thing that is not working well is the schedualed recording. It works 50% of the time.
The times that it doesn't work is when it says that it isn't getting a signal.
I am using the Intervision powerDVD7 codecs
The picture is very smooth.
I used the pdf guide from this link...
http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...ner-setup.html
The other thing that I did was to do ALL microsoft updates...I found out that after you do the auto-update and tell it to install everything, If you run the autoinstall again, it will find more things to update. I didn't know this. So I just kept running the auto-ipdate until there was no more critical or optional up dates...
Then I did these updates from the Media Portal website...
http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=2288
Funny thing was that I switched to MP because MCE wouldn't work...
Now MP won't find the second tuner on the card and MCE works really well
I'm confused too!
cheers

Wow, I downloaded the Decoder Checkup Utility and noticed that PowerDvd was being used to decode my tv. I downloaded the WinDVD7 trial and set that as my preferred codec now my tv looks almost as good as my STB and is perfectly smooth, and it isn't dropping out even when recording 2 channels at once which really pushed it before! Thanks! I feel like such a n00b after that hehe

I had that same problem in MP. I fixed it by uninstalling all the drivers for the dual card (i.e. uninstall the software and manually uninstall all drivers in device manager), then I rebooted and did a vanilla install of the latest 3.41 drivers, and MP could see the second tuner fine! MCE can also see both tuners. I think that the setup guide is only for earlier (and crapper) versions of the DVICO drivers. The base install seems to work fine for many people these days.

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Ahhh.. so relieved I dont have DVICO dual issues anymore!

I just purchased three avermedia A16A MCE tunercards to replace the DVICO Dual.

Much better than any driver update DVICO ever came up with :-P

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Hi - I have the DVICO dual digital finally working ok for terrestrial TV through MCE with EPG Runner.

Next challenge - Foxtel in MCE

It seems I need another Analogue USB tuner card specifically to pickup foxtel in MCE. Can someone recommend a tuner that won't give me compatability grief with the DVICO digitial??? Or am I barking mad with this approach? Any pointers much appreciated!
b.t.w I ditched the Dvico remote and using the MCE remote and couldn't be happier!

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Hi There,

I'm new to all this and I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem to what I am describing in the small novel I have written below. (I have spend the last two hours looking for a thread on this... so I appologise in advance if someone has already asked the question)

I built a new HTPC on the weekend. I wish I had found this thread BEFORE I went out an got the Dvico Dual Digital card, what a drama, but anyway..... All the drivers and firmware have been updated, MCE rollups installed... It's all working now except for one thing......

When I put my MCE PC into standby (S1 or S3) and I have the TV displaying (either TV only or with a TV window in the MCE menu) the machine will not come out of standby.

I have tried everything, and it appears it the USB tuner that is causing it. If I disconnect the USB lead before I boot up, while I only have one tuner working, it's not a problem going in and out of standby.

When the USB is connected I am also seeing error messages in the MCE Event log on the machine, referring to the second tuner not being available.

In addition, when I have scheduled recording planned, and the machine is in standby, I get an error that there was no signal to record the program when I next start the machine.

At the moment I have a macro set-up on the power off button on my remote to close and re-start MCE before going into standby, which is getting me around the hanging problem, but

a) It's giving me the s***s
b) I still can't record programs when I have the PC on standby.

When I do bring the machine back from standby, I am heading the plesent Bing Bong tone that a USB device has been connected. With that in mind I am going to have a fiddle with the power settings to the USB root hub that the USB lead for the tuner is connected to, but I am a bit sceptical that is going to fix it.

I have emailed the friendly Koren's and they tell me that... (let me copy and paste here so I can get the language right)

"We fixed this issue, we modify the device driver and we check it with MCE-MyTV" and "We're fixing it now, of course it may occur because of driver. We have a plan to release next beta version ASAP."

Imagine my scepticism.

Anyway, to save me all this hassle, anyone see this issue? anyone fixed it?

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

2 things...

1. Goto the Downloads section of this site, and download the hotfix that i have uploaded and install it.

2. If you close the MCE application, and then go into standby...it works??? if so, then thats fine. You can still set it to record...

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Hmm.. Maybe I was not clear enough.

If I close the MCE application before I shutdown it will go into and out of standby ok...

Regardless of what I do, I can't get it to record :-(

I'll take a look at the hotfix, thanks for the tip.

[EDIT]
I am fairly sure the problem is because the USB tuner is shutdown/looses power when the machine goes into standby... just have to test my theory.

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

ok...

That is a common problem...not JUST with DVICO Dual Cards...i have to do the same (close MCE before i standby)

and if your USB tuner looses power then its not a problem with the card...you have to either Enable USB POWER in STANDBY in the BIOS...or jumpers on the motherboard
