My remote problem definitely was that it wasn't plugged in properly. The Antec NSK1300 case that I am using has a very wide strip of metal between ports, and it was preventing the remote receiver being plugged into to back of the card properly. I moved the card around a bit, plugged it in firmly and now the remote works!
Now if I could just solve my signal level problems. My $70 set top box has no problems getting signal, but the DVICO tuner doesn't seem to be able to pick up enough signal to show a picture. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll check my case again. I know its a bit of a squeeze like you were having with the metal thing but I'm 99% sure its plugged it.
Since I played around with my media pc... trying to find a better channel from the ghosts I'm now finding ALL my channels are reporting a week signal!
EDIT: checked my cable... no luck with the USB remote.

I had problems getting signals one one of my media pc's (amd based) when it had rollup 2 installed so I uninstalled it and works fine apart from the channel 2 second problem. My other media pc (pentium based) works fine with rollup 2.
What kind of signal strengths are you getting with the Dvico signal util?

To all having issues with the DVICO Dual Digital card.
I have no problems since I switched away from all other codecs i tried and went to windvd 7 platinum, response is great, picture is perfect on 42" HD plasma, but i do not use the DVICO remote, tossed it in the bin - the MS one works a treat.
Other codecs drove me up the wall, I reckon I have tried them all, ask Arkay, he knows how persistent and stubborn I am - if not ask my wife ))
Coolermaster Case
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium - 1009 bios
AMD 3200+ single Core
2GB ECC
Leadtek 6600GT - Nvidia v91.31
DVICO Dual Digital - 3.41 Drivers

I'm loathe to uninstall rollup 2 because it (and the recent updates to it) fixed a lot of issues I was having with DVD playback.
I'l check the strengths in the Dvico signal util on the weekend - I promised my wife that I wouldn't do any computer stuff tonight (after working on it 5 hours a night for 6 nights straight
This is my first post here. Must say its a great site and has helped me heaps on media pc adventures.
I have the Dvico Dual card. Was working fine for months. I then went to unplug my system to install some extra hardware, when I plugged everything back in again the remote would not work. I checked the receiver cable and noticed it was lose. The little port on the card had broken off from inside the pci board. Extremely poor design due to its location on the card itself and does not take much to break it. Funny, if you read the instructions it says "Firmly" install the remote receiver cable. Hah!
My recommendation is obviously to be extremely careful with this as it will break easily.
Time to test out the Dvico 1 year warranty. If I have no joy I will be looking at the NOVA-T card, no dodgy external cables and a seperate USB remote.
I have used the installation guide as described earlier which is great.
I have tried these codecs
NVIDEA Purevideo
Inteervision WINDVD7
Nero7
Powerdvd7
There may be others that I can't remember
The best decoder to my mind is the ZULU decoder that comes with the DVICO card.
There is only one problem!
When using that decoder in MCE I get no sound and vision drop-outs.
It looks fantastic in the Fusion HD software!?!?
Its killing me
I am selecting the video decoder with DECCHECK
Is there a similar piece of software for the sound decoder?

I can't get the Dvico signal util to work and tell me anything useful. I'm going to try a powered antenna sometime soon to see if that helps.
umm...so that means you are using in indoor antenna???
if so, thats your problem!!!
Yeah - I'm coming to that realisation. The confusing thing is that we have a $70 set top box that uses the same indoor antenna and picks up all the stations fine. Is this a "feature" of all TV tuner cards, or just the DVICO one?
its fairly common with a lot of tuner cards...i don't really know why, as the tuners (from the looks of STB's i've seen) are virtually the same....
there was one guy here specifically...maybe simbot, who was using an indoor antenna, eventually he bit the bullet and got a dedicated antenna installed for him MCE machine, and has never looked back...

Unfortunately the WAF is low for an external antenna ("The TV works fine as it is"), but I'll work on it.
