Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

i fixed my problem with the 2nd tuner not working when coming out of standby by using the closemce tray app to automatically close the MCE frontend before going into standby. Now when it comes out of standby I press a remote button to open MCE again and both tuners are fully functional

Everything seems to be in working order now, going into standby, coming out to record and goin back again and with both tuners working all the time. Finally.

Thanks Panto, but unfotunately no joy. Have installed 3.40.3 successfully and machine comes out of stanbdy perfectly to record, but unfortunately it just seems that MCE times out before the (very slow) signal pickup allows the channel to be detected by MCE, which I gahter is exactly the same problem that many others have had with DVICO cards.

Have read a lot about this on the forum and I can't see that anyone has had a solution to it yet, incliding the recent Dvico upgrade by the looks.

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Thankyou!
I have spent many hours with no luck. After following thease instructions I have 2 working tunners. Thankyou
I am getting the error message when I use “Media Centre Tuner Priority” tool that I don't have 2 supported tunners but I can live with that for now.
I did however deviate from the instructions slittly. At step 3 when the divico drivers where instaling each time new hardware dialog box came up I manualy directed it to the C:\Program Files\DVICO\FusionHDTV\Driver\USBDriver.
The result was I got all 8 devices in device mannager first go.
Unfortunatly for everyone alls reading this I didn't stop and check to see if everything was working at this point. I followed through with the rest of the steps as I didn't want to screw up.

I have one question that may be stupid. The fact that the USB drivers need to be installed do you need to connect the USB cable as I do not have the internal power cables connected. (I was told not required from the salesman)

Thanks

Mark
Now it is running - no problems.

Just 1 slight change to the procedure.

I manually installed the USB drivers directrly from the HDTV folder and it is now working.

This document (hopefully) walks through from the PCI tuner maybe working and USB tuner not working with an old driver set ... to ... both the PCI tuner and USB tuner working nicely together.

The main thing I can't stress enough is that windows tries to help you by installing drivers which are not the correct ones. It is important that you ensure that windows doesn't automatically do this by you saying "NO! I will tell you what you want".

Please feel free to comment on the document with your experiences and I will add it to the document. I will be adding the MCE screenprints about configuring the tv tuners and how the guide is atttached to the turner in the future (when I get time).

Cheers,

ASDF
(due to lots of screenprints within the document i had to zip and pdf).
ASDF,

Great doc and a lot of help but I should relate what I came up against.

I could get to step 6 in your guide but MCE would insist on installing the AVStream device and not recognise anything else, and I could not uninstall it!. I did this 4 times, followed the instructions faithfully and drank lots of cask red wine (perhap I should stick to bottled? ).

In desperation when MCE tried to install it the 5th time I chose to select the device manualy, browsed through to the Dvico USB drivers and selected "composite device tuner", MCE then faithfully installed the 3 correct USB drivers.

No idea why but perhaps its something to do with the dual (ie "composite") tuner card.

Cheers.

Mark

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

I've installed these cards into many different systems and I can't stress enough how important it is update MCE before you install the drivers OR the card. I always check in Device Manager that all is well before I plug the card in.

I always use the external USB cable as well as I have read about issues with the internal USB connection. Not sure if this has been fixed with the current drivers.

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

Greg,
thenaks for the feedback. In desperation I've reformated and have just finished installing XP MCE and all the updates. In doing this "I think" I may have missed some MCE updates the first time around and compounded the whole thing by confusing the whole driver issue.

I'm currently downloading the latest Fusion software 3.30.01, have downloaded the Bluebird driver and will attack the card install tomorrow.

I'll try not to stuff it up this time and I'll drop a post on progress.

Cheers,
Mark

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

I am having problems getting the usb part to function. I have tried connecting both the internal and external usb cables (one at a time) with no success. I downloaded the pdf file and was going through it until i got to point 6 of the pdf where it shows the usb device in other devices. My system seems to put the device in the universal serial bus controllers section as an unknown device. I continue to follow the instructions of point 6 however i never get to the point where the form should comes up asking to continue or stop, however I just get a message saying that the current driver installed is better suited then the one you are trying to install...and to click either back or finish. Is there anything else i can try or is my card faulty? Any help would be very appreciated.

Rgs,

Mark

I do know that you can only have 1 of the usb connections plugged in. Either internal or external... not both at the same time or it wont work.

I find this card kinda buggy. I can't get MCE to detect my card once roll up 2 has been applied. too much bloody trouble!!

Yes only had one on at a time...but it didn't seem to matter which one was on. The result is the same....i also had the same problem with rollup 2. MCE would not detect a tv tuner was installed!! I never thought setting up a tv tuner card could cause so many headaches!!

yeah i know what you mean. I'm starting to regret this buy! I'm building this system for my father... but when it comes to building my own I will look for something more stable!

Re: DVICO Dual Digital Tuner Setup

A quick question OZButcher...

Have you got any issues with the USB component or is it just the MCE not detecting the card? If i can not get it working by the end of the weekend i think it is going back for warranty!!!!!

ok, i haven't read the setup guide...if you just point the USB Tuner to the C:\program files\dvico\drivers\usb folder does it install the AVSTREAM USB driver???
