Manually adding more channels to MCE
this thread has 7 replies and has been viewed 522 times
We have a Digital TV Tuner card by Compro (Compro DVB-T300 PCI). When we do a scan for channels on MCE we only get 21 channels and miss out on a few channels we would like to watch. When we used the ComproDTV software that came with the tuner card (which is another TV application) we were able to find many more channels including the ones that we couldn't find with MCE.
Is there any way to force MCE to scan certain frequencies? The ComproDTV program keeps a record of the frequency each channel was found on. The ComproDTV program also has its own EPG which seems to work well. Its a shame this program can not easily be integrated into MCE because I can't get the TV guide through MCE. I even download bladerunner and it doesnt want to work. (Please see my other post in that section for details on that problem).
Do you have roll-up 2 & the other MCE fixes post that installed? There were a number of fixes for missing channels in Australia.
Also, can you check the signal levels with some software that came with your card outside of the Media Center interface? In Sydney (& most capital cities), you need to check the following frequencies (in MHz with station after): 177.5(7); 191.625(9); 219.5(10); 226.5(ABC); 571.50(SBS) - there's also a datacasting channel in Sydney.

Do you mean the latest updates for MCE?

As I said before I can get other channels on other frequencies via the the Compro program that came with the Tuner card, but not on MCE. Is there a way to search other frequencies on MCE or will it only do an auto scan of frequencies it wants to scan?
You need all WIndows update updates and even when you tink you are done go back and update again
No Manual way as M$ has built a frequency table based on Australia (based I believe on a psis.dll file released here last year ) that has all our possile frequencies so you are missing updates or the drivers for the compro maybe?

What he said
There's a specific update called Rollup 2 (referred to as RU2), & then there's a specific update after that. Also, there's a couple of .NET updates the RU2 needs. And then there are a few more updates....
Also, make sure you're using the MCE (BDA) specific drivers for your card (& the latest ones at that). It sounds like you are (as MCE can see your card), but just in case.
Best of luck.
