Was wondering if I could obtain some advise for a good, no hassle digital tuner card supporting HD, preferably dual-digital tuner (is there such a product out there???)
Could I get some model numbers & app.pricing & where you purchased them from?
I have 2 PCi slots free, so I have room to install two single HD tuner cards if there isn't a dual-tuner card available.
There is not much in the dual tuner market at the moment... the Tiny USB2 Twin Tuner is probably the only exception... but it uses onboard USB headers rather than the PCI bus.
Alternatively - consider two PCI Digital Tuners... I can't go pass my AverMedia A16A's which are a great product and I would highly recommend... but lot's of people also use the DVico and others... as long as they are MCE compliant and have BDA drivers.
it seems there will be a few coming out this month or next month. the one I'm really keen on is from Terratec who make some tasty bits of home theatre tech. This one is the Cinergy 2400i DT, a PCI-e 1x dual tuner using only 1 antenna connection but with an internal splitter. Looks awesome with a white PCM and orange detail
The new Fusion dual tuner card is out soon too but is only PCI, managing the 2nd tuner by way of a USB connection! Not the most elegant solution but a solution all the same.
I am a Football playing, PE teaching, computer nerd. Quite the contradiction (without any assumptions or offence ment to others) . Got a few 'free' periods to prepare lessons Compo will be forth coming once I have pread some points around (still another five to come)
I wouldn't say a contradiction - just more 'balance' than some of the rest of us...
I'm a IT business owning ex-programmer come techie who is kept busy managing a whole lot of staff, a whole lot of customers and excessive administration! So this is all a lot of gadgety-goodness by comparison...
And an ex-Perth'ite at that... moved over in 2000...
On the subject of dual tuners, I thought I would let you know that there will be a number of other dual tuner devices coming up in the next couple of months, including:
Dual Digital Tuners - PCI-e based
Dual Digital Tuners (USB) - Two tuners in one external box, with one USB cable required.
Dual Digital Tuners (USB) - Like our current internal solution, but with improved ergonomics.
Digital + Hybrid -a Digital Tuner + an analogue one, with FM, in a number of form factors, internal and external.
The above are all conventional tuner solutions (ie can-tuner), but there will also be solutions that are based on the silicon tuners, as well.
All these devices will have BDA drivers and will work with MCE, WS and other BDA based applications.
Renura, any chance you guys will be getting in the Terratec 2600? looks soo sweet
the only release i can see on google for it so far is in the very slick Hush HTPCs
Anything is possible, as far as I know the dual cards are not released yet. If you want a couple, of Cinergy 1200 DVB-t I can arrange as for looks, once you have put them inside your PC case what matter is performance and value for money. And that is the main criteria we use for deciding to market this or that product.

Other than being future proof Renura, will the pci-e based cards offer a real advantage?
I have not see any difference in performance, as such, other than the fact that I have been having more issues with the PCI-e than the other dual tuner devices, so far. But that could also be due to the drivers for the PCI-e cards I have tested.
