2 DOA Cards?

Hi

I have installed 2 DNTV cards to replace my dead one and neither are picking up a signal.

I have reinstalled them, no signal.

Removed 1 and tried the other using both of the tuner addding applications. No signal

I deleted all the registry keys and disabled all but 1 tuner and ran the whole TV set up again. It found no signal- on either tuner (separately, restarting in between).

The old Avermedia tuner worked all through this, and I swapped the aerial cables between tuners.

I ran scan channels dba through them all and it was happy with the Aver but found nothing with the DNTVs.

Is it possible that Eyo sent me 2 dead tuner cards?

What else can I try?

Thanks
Ian

Re: 2 DOA Cards?

ian_pop,

You don't say which DNTV models you are trying and which model died.

Presumably the DNTV cards are PCI-E not PCI? Are you sure you are not having problems with your PCI-E slot(s)? If I had 3 cards that refused to work on a bus I would think of checking the bus. Have you got anyother PCI-E cards you can use to do a check? Or do you have another machine you can try the cards in?

Craig.

Re: 2 DOA Cards?

They are all PCIe Dual Hybrid S2s.

The one I have taken out was getting an occasional signal (or at least "Digital Audio Service"). When I ran Scan Channels DBA through it, there were some (weak) results. So I believe that it was the card failing, but the bus whs passing through whayt it was given.

The new ones are not picking up a thing.

I do not have another machine (well, laptops, but they won't get me far), or any other PCIe card.

Re: 2 DOA Cards?

I don't think, judging by the quality of the cards that DNTV sell, it would be possible for 2 cards to be dead.

I'd be looking more at your signal strength as the cause of the issue.

For the S2, firstly make sure you're using the correct input for the aerial (the top one) and if that doesn't work try sending the cable into both inpouts (the digital and analog ones).

Different cards have different sensitivity to signal.

If none of those work I'd recommend getting a good digital antenna guy out to check your signal.

Re: 2 DOA Cards?

ian_pop,

My advice was based on my reading of your post, I thought you had had a working DNTV card that appeared to stop then tried 2 more of them, neither of which worked.

Its a sad fact that some systems behave differently than others, and some cards are more snsitive than others to signal problems. In my system I use one one DN PCIe Dual Hybrid S1 and two avarmedia A777s, have also used a DN Quattro in place of the dual hybrid. In it I can not get the A777's to scan channels but the DN tuners work fine, so what I do is use the manual hack system for 4 tuners but make sure the last channel scan is done by the card that works, in my case the DN card, that way the channel scan that is saved is a working one and all 4 tuners pick up all channels without a problem.

I would add my cables are all quad shiels and connections are F type and have a new (well two year old now) digital antenna and my antenna bloke says the signal is ok.

The manual reg hack process I use is this one:
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/sho...ght=tuners+mce

Don't know if the tuner extender app can be used in the same way, would have thought so, but as I could never get it to work for me I don't know.

Give it a go and see what happens, I would also look at doing as dgaust suggests and have your antenna etc either replaced or at least checked.

Craig.
