Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

I have been using the Hauppage HVR 2200 dual tuner with no problems on my XP media center.

I recently replaced my hard drive and have since been unable to set up a TV signal. The scanning process does not recognise Digital Terrestrial signals.

I have reinstalled the tuner card & updated the drivers but the result is the same. It seems to pick up PAL signals but does not identify the channels.

Service pack 3 has been installed during the hard drive replacement. This is the only difference I can identify.

Any ideas most welcome.

Thanks.

Re: Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

simpkins,

There have been a number of problems reported on this and other forums about problems with SP3, and as you say the only difference is SP3 prior to the replacement of your HDD I would remove SP3 or reinstall without SP3.

No 1 adage for MCE is "if it aint broke don't fix it".

Craig.

Re: Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

Thanks for the suggestions.

I removed Service Pack 3. Now at startup, there's a message saying the video card or drivers are not compatible. The whole system freezes at this point. I tried Safe Mode but really don't know how to proceed.

Re: Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

I managed to get the system to a functional stage and can access the setup menus. During the TV signal setup, it does not recognise the tuner. I've reinstalled several times and changed the drivers but with no success.

I suspect it may be a driver problem but am completely out of ideas about which driver to try.

Could it be something to do with video codecs?

Re: Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

Download MCE Tuner Config & see if your tuners are properly enabled for Media Center.

Re: Hauppage HVR2200 scanning problem

simpkins,

Did you do a full reinstall of the OS or merely removed SP3?

If the latter it is possible that the removal has not completely succeeded in rolling back to the pr-install state. If your problems persist I would suggest a full re-install or if you have one re-install an image of your pre-SP3 setup.

Craig.
