Hi and thanks to all-Tuner advice needed

Hi to everyone,
Thanks to this site myself, someone with very little PC knowledge has built up an awesome HTPC. It took over a month of tinkering, reading and more tinkering to get to a stage where I now have a stable machine running XPMCE and using FreeEPG and Microsoft remote.
Without the information in these forums it would not have been possible fo me to achive a working media centre.
The only component letting my system down is the Compro T750 with its sensitivity to strong signal reception and its failure to work from standby. Not to mention the misleading product packaging suggesting this id a dual digital card which fooled me
Could anyone recommend a dual digital PCIE or PCI card which is stable and will resume from sleep or hibernate?
I have read pages and pages about cards and if I go by everthing I have read it appears they all have problems.
Dvico dual cards - stutter issues plus more
Digitalnow dual cards- failure to resume from sleep
Hauppage Nova t500- driver issues.
All I would like is a dual digital tunner that will deliver reilable good reception and will wake from hibernate and will work well with XPMCE. Am I asking to much?
Any advice on which tuner to go for will be much appreciated as I cant afford to blow another $160 on a lemon.
Thanks again
Tomo

Re: Hi and thanks to all-Tuner advice needed

the dntv issues arent across the board, its usually a result of tuner and mainbaord not playing nice, and bad karma I definitely dont have it with my shuttle rig and pcies2.

blackgold cards are pretty awesome IMO. Not available (easily) here though People also seem to have a decent experience with some avermedia cards.

If I was getting new tuner, I would get a pair of Hauppauge HVR 2200.

Re: Hi and thanks to all-Tuner advice needed

The HVR-2200 is pricey, but for most people who have installed them, they have just plain worked. I run 2 (4 tuners) & resume has been fine on all 3 boards I've tried them on. I think there have been a few people who've had resume issues with them, but the numbers are small.

The biggest problem with them is that every time they come in to stock, they sell out in no time.

Prior to the HVR's, I used DigitalNow TinyUSB tuners (in my desktop PC now) - the only problem I ever had with them was my power supply dying.

I guess the only way to be 100% sure a particular tuner will work is to find someone with the same motherbaord & tuner & see if they have any problems.

OK, me new, me dumb . . . so is this card THE ONE, generally speaking? I was thinking about Compro T750, but so far in my reading on this site, it doesn't seem too popular.

I would personally stick to Avermedia/Hauppauge/DNTV triangle. They are respectable brands with good driver/general support.
Nothing wrong with Compro, I would probably get it for general purpose PC, to be used with their own program to watch TV. Not for Media Centre.

The T750 doesn't have dual digital tuners (its blurb is poorly written). The E700 does, but it's very hit & miss in terms of end user satisfaction.
