Unhappy Compro VideoMate T100 'No Signal' Issue

Hi All,

Just wanted to ask some advice before I replace this card.

I have recently built a HTPC for a client, which is pretty standard issue. The relevant specs are as follows:

Mobo: Asus M2N-MX DVI
Processor: AMD 6000+
Ram: 2gb Kingston 667
Video: Asus Radeon HD2600Pro (512mb)
Capture Card: Compro VideoMate T100

The system normally ships with Vista Home Premium, and a Compro E700, along with a Linksys Media Extender. The client has been extremely difficult from the start and refused to use Vista, and requested XP Home Basic for their OS (as well as a cheaper capture card to cut costs).

As a result, I have had to change the excellent Linksys DMA2100 MCE for a Medigate Media Centre (as the Linksys doesnt support XP), and result to using the ComproDTV software for watching and recording software, then streaming the video to the Mediagate (a MUCH more, and needlessly, complex process).

The system is all up and running, and currently at the clients home. The only thing is that the ComproDTV software is playing up.

Once the application has been run once, it displays a 'No Signal' error and a blank screen on a second attempt to use the application. Also- if a scheduled recording is attempted the same result occurs.

If the application is left running, a manual recording can be performed (but it is frustrating both the client and myself).

If the system is rebooted, the program runs again with no problems. Very odd...

I originally installed ComproDTV 4, and downgraded to ComproDTV 3 and still received the same result.

I have tried multiple drivers and still the same.

After reading around, I assume it has something to do with the drivers, perhaps not uninstalling the default windows drivers before installing the new drivers from the comproUSA website, but I wanted comfirmation on this- and if there is a 'special procedure' to follow which doesnt resort to starting from a bare OS.

At the moment i think im going to resort to replacing the card with another one, but im unsure what card to use (as this is going to be at my expense- ive already lost out on this sale with hours spent trying to resolve the issue under a 'warranty claim').

I am going to steer clear of the T100,220 etc. models, as they all use the same generic driver, so im thinking of going this Compro E650F. The only thing that is bothering me is that all the new compro cards are 'vista certified' and i dont want to get stuck in a similar situation with a card that is specifically built to utilise the vista os.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Luke
