TinyTwin questions

A couple of questions on the TinyTwin tuner. I bought it recently and it works well, except when it can't get a signal, which I think is down to antenna problems (signal booster seems to be overheating - at least that's my best guesstimate). However, I have a couple of questions to help me rule out the possibility that the tuner is playing any part in the problems.

1. The Tuner has a blue led on it - I have only seen this come on once, whether I am currently getting a signal or not - so what is it supposed to indicate, and when should it be on?

2. The Tuner itself runs pretty hot to the touch - is this normal or possibly a a problem?

Thanks

1. The led light comes on only when a signal is locked it is very faint and you must really look to see it in daylight.
2. yes they run hot, particularly if the ambient temperature is hot to start with.
Amplifiers are not necessarily a good thing, too strong a signal is as bad as too weak.

Re: TinyTwin questions

On another matter - I posted this same issue a few days ago, but then seemed to solve it myself so posted that too. I was only able to see one tuner in teh TinyTwin. Then I ran the TV setup in MCE again and that time it recognised the second tuner too. Now the second tuner is gone again, but rerunning the setup doesn't give the normal question of 'do you want to set up 1 tuner or 2?'

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

One way to check and make sure that both tuners are available it is to use DNTV Live! and check that both tuners are listed in the Configuration/Hardware Information. The fact that you keep losing one tuner might indicate that there is a problem somewhere, more often than not this is a USB2 power issue.
Ensure that you are indeed using a USB2 port (check with your MB specs if necessary) and perhaps try a different port, you might also try plugging the device directly into the uSB2 port, to eliminate the possibility that there might be something loose or faulty with the actual USB cable you are using.
