Hauppauge HVR 2200 Jerky Tv image

There doesnt seem to be a specific driver on their site for the 2200 verison. The live tv image is very jerky, even playing through a 8600GT card

Does anyone have any later drivers? or know what could be causing such jerky live tv. Using Nvidia pure decoder

Have you tried the drivers at the bottom of this page:

http://www.newmagic.com.au/Support/H...a_Drivers.html

They do mention Vista, but I think they work for XP also.

Re: Hauppauge HVR 2200 Jerky Tv image

What about playback of recordings (i.e. not live or time shifted)?

I assume you had a previous tuner that was fine - model?

What other cards do you have in your PC?

Do you have another PCIe slot that you can try it in?

Re: Hauppauge HVR 2200 Jerky Tv image

They also seem stuttery.

I did have a Dvico card, but i had constant issues with the drivers and getting it to find channels and it was constantly coming up with yellow exclamation marks, plus changing channels was too slow

I have another pci-e slot, but i woudl need to move the 8600gt card over to were the 2nd video card would normally be, so i can try the other pci-e slot

only other card in the machine is a bluegears enspirer 7.1 soundcard.

I have noticed that when viewing live recordings the hard drive seems to be more active than usual.

Do you have onboard sound that you can test with? If so, whip out the sound card, configure the onboard & see what happens.

Re: Hauppauge HVR 2200 Jerky Tv image

Yeah i can try that, although when the Dvico card actually worked the live tv stream was smooth as..

Why would sound card like this cause an issue anyways?...video and audio sycn issues maybe?

i tried back revving video drivers, updating directx and still nothing. i noticed you have 2 of them in u machine.

Is there anything else that could be looked at? i noticed the nvidia pure decoder hasnt had an update since 2006, seems strange that there isnt a leter release of it

There's a fair bit of evidence that some sound cards don't comply with sharing IRQs like they should - it's possible that the HVR-2200 has caused a shuffle in IRQs that has caused problems. Have a look at device manager & change the view to resources by type & see if the sound card is sharing IRQ. It's not a definite issue, just a possibility. Try removing it & if that works, try putting it in a different slot.

The PV decoder won't be getting any more releases (& won't be updated for Vista). It's still the best PQ for MCE2005 though. It doesn't detect progressive scan channels properly (ABC HD & SBS HD), but apart from that, it's great.

My 2 run fine with the new beta drivers. I haven't tried them in XP/MCE2005.

Hang on!!! This is Vista? It's in the MCE2005 Tuners section!

OK, well, you shouldn't be using the PV decoder for a start - it will stutter all over the place & doesn't do hardware decoding.

Change back to the Vista decoder & see what happens with that.

Re: Hauppauge HVR 2200 Jerky Tv image

no its a MCE machine, i have seen other posts relating to Vista and full screen playback issues due that bull**** Aero product needing a high end graphics card to support 1920 * 1080

i did try lower resolutions with no change.

I'll try the sound card option 2 nite when i get home and lset you know
