there is a thread around here called 'get any tuner to work within MCE' or thereabouts.. give that a go if you like
If I was you, Id take it back/sell it and get a MCE certified tuner. Since you have a notebook, why dont you go for a pcmcia tuner ??
So much more reliable than crummy usb, especially as you install more device drivers(ipod etc, cameras, printers etc) usb simply isnt stable as far as MCE purposes....for which a tuner is the backbone of the entire MCE experience.
The avermedia pcmcia tuners are great, in my experience.
