scanchannelsbda not finding stations

Hi, I installed a nova-t 500 over the weekend, everything working fine with PDVD7 all channels with good reception etc. to cut a long story short I installed winDVD8, couldn't get it working, uninstalled WinDVD8 and reinstalled PDVD7.

Now when I run scan channels in MCE I only get channels 7 and SBS. I ran scanchannelsbds and got the following on both tuners. So it appears as if channel 7 is getting very good reception and SBS is reasonable. Now with these figures why dont i get the other channels? not sure what quality = -100 means maybe other nova-t users can enlighten me?

# signal locked = Y present = Y stength = 92 quality = 10

Re: scanchannelsbda not finding stations

Hi,

I had nothing but trouble with the Nova T and with the signal qualities and strength you are getting I doubt if those 2 channels would be watchable.

Ended up throwing it in a drawer and replaced it with a DigitalNow Quattro S.

However for your system I would be checking my aerial system out to see if that improved things. In poor reception areas you need to have a relatively new areal and use quad core coax cable preferably connected throughout with F type connecters. Don't know if you are using a signal booster but if not one may help, however they also can boost any interferance as well as boosting the signal.

Craig.

Re: scanchannelsbda not finding stations

Got an image from before the WinDVD8 install? Probably best to go back a little to go forward a lot.

I've got a Nova-T 500 and use PowerDVD7. Just wondering, any specific reason for the attempted change, or simply trying stuff?

Re: scanchannelsbda not finding stations

Over the weekend I decided to reformat my computer and and start from scratch. I installed the bare minimum and still only sccaned channels 7 + SBS and occassionally Nine although that was not viewable. After a few hours of fiddling around I managed to get all channels scanned and watchable. But then when I went to watch them again the next day, after changing nothing I got a not signal screen on all channels except 7 and SBS.
I am now thinking that my digital reception is only just strong enough to work on a set top box BUT no strong enough for MCE.
I got up on the roof and had a look at the antenna and it seemed to be pointing in the same direction as everyone else's. The actual antenna is quite old I think and the cabling it uses is really thin and probably provides no insulation. I am currently using a powered splitter which may or may not be contributing to signal degradation. All i know is that when it is not turned on I get no signal at all. I'm thinking as a last resort I will try a bunny ears antenna and then if no luck I might have to call in the professional's.
