Unhappy recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Hi all,

I am looking for advice for a dual tuner card to replace my 2 x DVICO lites in my new system comprising of the following:

GIGABYTE 965P-S3 m/b
GIGABYTE NX76T256D-RH GEF7600GT
Intel CORE 2 DUO E6400
Zalman ZM460-APS Noise-free 460W
Corsair DDR2 1GB PC-6400 (2x XMS2 512MB) TWIN2X1024A-6400 RAM
AuzenTech HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect
Silverstone LC13 case

I keep getting the following errors with BSOD 3-4 times a day followed by "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" with zulucapsys info at the bottom of the BSOD. I can only presume that this is to do with issues with the DVICO cards!!!

Drivers are the absolute latest accross the board with install only completed last week and fully updated

I've never had any issues with DVICO but this one is truly %$#$ me as this one is the main HTPC in the lounge room and the family is not happy

Many THX in advance

Sajaga

Re: recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Saja

I've installed the Digitalnow QuattroS twin tuner http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product.../QuattroS.html

Performance wise outside of MCE is very good - MCE use seems to be very dependent on a higher quality signal - I needed to boost my signal with a Kingray amp/splitter to get good performance in MCE but I understand this is due to MCE and not the card itself. You also need to have both antennas connected in MC to use both tuners.

Re: recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Before throwing the baby out with the bath water, I would be tracking down what the actual cause of error is first.

Try removing 1 card & seeing if it's OK just running 1.

Do you have any other PCI cards installed (looks like your sound card is)?

The BSOD error suggest to me an IRQ conflict on the PCI bus. It might be fixed by moving 1 of the cards to a different PCI slot.

Re: recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Hi,

I'd probably try and separate them by 1 slot and use the dvico app package to install the drivers with both cards installed to see how it goes.
Does the Dvico app support PIP or 2 tuners ???

If you do give them the flick...please keep me in mind, as their good for Mythtv & DVB Webscheduler.

I have also added a QuattroS to my main MCE Server. I am using the special DigitalNow driver that allows a single antenna input to be shared. This has been flawless for me.

I guess with you lower sinal (you needed an amplifier), using 2 antena inputs may immprove the situation, but it can be done with the QuattroS with just 1 antenna input in XPMCE!

Unhappy Re: recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Guys thanks for your replies!!!

Went back to the drawing board on Friday afternoon and started reshuffling PCI slots with every combination - still crashes!!

Took the 2 DVICO tuners out of my bedroom HTPC - still crashes

Redid the OS again and updated bios and every other driver possible and still no joy!!!

Seems to be a m/b issue I think but I am really happy with the way that the machine works except for these $&$& tuner cards!!!

Do you think that going for a Dual Hybrid PCI-e X1 card and getting away from the DVICO's on the PCI bus will fix the issue????

Probably is worth testing some different RAM (if you have some) before changing anything else. Just in case.

Re: recommended dual digital tuner card PLEASE!!!

Sorry guys,

forgot to mention that I swapped out the RAM and Video card from my server which is a rock and it still did the same thing - I would swap boards but I need the AB9 pro as the server board as it has 10 SATA ports - running raid 5 etc

If you have PCI-e X1 slots, PCI-Express is the only way to go for multituner solutions.

If your order is processed by 3pm, it will be shipped today and you should get it tomorrow or the day after at the latest, if our web site does not say "Out of Stock" then they are always in stock

The RF Sharing feature is availabe in any software, but this only applies to the QuattroS card, not the Dual Hybrid X1 card.

If you are thinking about the QuattroS, check that your PC case can accomodate it as it is a very big card, the dimesions are on the website, specs page
