Hauppage Nova-t 500 Driver Bug

For people recieving on the VHF band with the Hauppauge dual tuner (Mainly Melbourne Metro people), you will more than likely have issues with SBS and ABC stuttering.

I have contacted the Australian Distributors (newmagic) and they assure me that it is a driver issue and that they are working with Hauppauge to develope a fix. Apparently SBS and ABC transmit something that is causing problems with the error correction. They told me they hope to have a solution in about 2 weeks and that they will post info/updates on thier website when it becomes available

http://www.newmagic.com.au/NM_pages/...t_default.html

An exchange was not possible as its not a hardware problem

Hope this helps someone out

If that is true, that is great news.

When you run ScanChannelsBDA does it use the Hauppage drivers?

ScanCHannelsBDA uses the BDA drivers of the particular card you are testing.

Re: Hauppage Nova-t 500 Driver Bug

So I guess that means if there is a driver bug, your results will not mean much.

I run it got good strengths and 100 percent quality on 7,9,10, and unstable results on 2 and sbs.

The same aerial works perfectly on my dvico card and 4 HD STB's that i have tried. All signal indicaters well in the green zone.

I also had a professional aerial guy test the signal with the proper meter and he said it was perfect and left without charging as there was nothig wrong.

All of this is consistant with what newmagic told me, fingers crossed they do come up with a fix ( Keep in mind this is mainly effecting melbourne metro people recieving on the VHF band )

Are you sure it's the same problem (stuttering on SBS and ABC only, all other channels OK?
Can you post your ScanChannelsBDA logs?

Re: Hauppage Nova-t 500 Driver Bug

Just spoke to New Magic and they are working on this. It seems to be related only to ABC and SBS (as previously stated). It also seems to be localised to people receiving from Mt. Dandenong (as appossed to other signal sources local to the CBD). They suggested to me to hold off on purchasing this card until this matter is resolved.

Currently I am based in Richmond.

In Richmond you might get line of sight to the COMO centre, so you could get your digital reception from there (you would need to change your antenna's orientation though)

Yes, Its only on SBS and ABC, and I'm in Sydney. Channels are unwatchable when there is fast movement.
Logs of ScanChannels looks fine. I'll post them when I'll get home.

Re: Hauppage Nova-t 500 Driver Bug

I am not sure whether I can adjust the actual arial since I am in an apartment complex....however I have e-mail New Magic and said to sales that I am ready to buy one of these Nova-T 500 cards as soon as this matter is resolved. Hopefully that will make them work that little bit harder since a sale is involved.

I will wait and see what happens, in the meantime I will stick with analogue.
