OK. That's difficult for me as I'm over 60km from the tower (as is everybody in Ballarat). Makes it difficult to make minor adjustments. I've meausured it out on Google Earth and determined the exact angle the aerial needs to be at (anal I know) and that's what I used when putting it up. Did you run ScanChannelsBDA before and after your direction change?
For people recieving on the VHF band with the Hauppauge dual tuner (Mainly Melbourne Metro people), you will more than likely have issues with SBS and ABC stuttering.
I have contacted the Australian Distributors (newmagic) and they assure me that it is a driver issue and that they are working with Hauppauge to develope a fix. Apparently SBS and ABC transmit something that is causing problems with the error correction. They told me they hope to have a solution in about 2 weeks and that they will post info/updates on thier website when it becomes available
Hi SilentButcher.
Have you heard anything further from New Magic regarding the new drivers. I have checked their website and can't see anything there.
I know it has only been a little over two weeks but the WAF has been steadily declining since missing out on the Chasers on the ABC so I am keen to get the new drivers as soon as possible.
No. I also checked the UK Hauppagge site and nothing there. fyi, by adjusting the antenna all my problems have disappeared. I suggest you check your signal strength and quality...the card is very unforgiving.

Newmagic are currently waiting for some test cards to be shipped from Hauppauge in the US - they should be here "Real Soon Now"... As soon as newmagic get them, testing can be done in Melbourne.
Hi
My ABC / SBS stutter was definitely drivers - reverting back to an older version sorted them completely. My Channel 9 stutter looks like signal - I have the arial split between 3 cards and a STB. Changing the cables between the cards moved the stutter, so I am pretty sure I have that isolated - am off to find a good 4 way splitter.

Hi Chris
Thanks for the info. Prior to reading this thread a couple of weeks ago I organised for my whole antenna to be replaced, adjusted etc. The guy that installed the new antenna said the signal strength he was getting was fine and that I shouldn't be having any problems. He even said the old antenna signal strength was fine and if it wasn't for a structural issue, he would not have replaced the antenna at all.
I live in Geelong so I am a fair way from the signal source which may add to the problems.
As such there is not much I can do but wait for the new drivers (or return the card if the drivers are not finalised soon).

My experience has been that with this card, it's the Quality reading that is more important. The NovaT 500 can pick up signals at relatively low strength (I have used an attenuator to reduce the signal strength as much as possible - 12db - as well as passive splitting to another card, and still get reception fine on all channels).
However, if the quality is off (the antenna installer should be able to measure the Bit Error Rate), then you will get issues. In ScanBDA, a quality reading of anything other than 100% will be noticed (as stuttering/pauses of various degrees).

I will try another Scan BDA test tonight and check it out again. I haven't yet run it on the new antenna.
But if scan BDA relies on the BDA drivers as the name suggests, then a driver problem would be evident in the scanBDA results ?
The whole situation stinks IMO, people that are having problems should be entitled to a refund, no questions asked. I will wait another week or so, and if there is no progress I intend on chasing the matter further. I have proved beyond doubt that my aerial is good. Tested with 4 STB's and 2 Tuner cards (dvico and quattroS) without issue, and also had the aerial guy out to test.
The whole having to send new cards from USA suggests to me that a firmware or driver update will not resolve the problem, if it would, I would have thought they would simply offer a beta download for people to test.
Give our %$#@ing money back !!!

I agree with you SilentButcher.
I don't think we will have a problem getting our money back as there certainly appears to be enough evidence that the card (or more correctly, the drivers) have a problem.
Just as you wouldn't be too happy if you brought a TV and got it home only to realise it can't (because of a hardware/software) glitch receive channel two and sbs, I think the same applies to a Tuner Card.
In any event, it reasonable to suppose that the card is not fit for the purpose for which it was advertised or sold. It simply cannot pickup the ABC or SBS with any degree of regularity. Further, you were informed by New Magic that the drivers for the card were indeed faulty.
I'll give them another week as well and then insist on a refund (or a replacement card that works).
