well I moved from Brisbane to Melbourne.....same issues with stuttering, recording etc, was happy pre Nova-T. have now replaced the card and back to the "happy spot" Why would I want to bother playing with all the other jazz and risk upsetting the balance elsewhere? Good luck to all those other poor users not lucky enough to get a refund on this "super dud". ps 31f drivers suck as well so don't waste your time like I have for the last 2 months.
Totally agree new drivers don't work for me still got stuttering all over the place---and to think that this is my third Nova T500 that I have received ---2 others replaced under warranty. I didn't realise that I was such a masochist.
Good technical details. Do agree with you that the stuttering problem with the Nova-T is in MCE. Whenever I have the stuttering problem with SBS/ABC (I live in Melbourne) in MCE, I will startup ZoomPlayer or Classic Media Player with the DC-DVBfilter and I can watch stutter free TV on these channels, same BDA drivers.
I use GameLoader(from this site) to start the external media apps from MCE.
I agree MCE is far less than perfect, but this card was designed for an MCE environment, so regardless of the technical quality of this card, without decent MCE drivers, the card is a big expensive lemon. I went from a stuttering TV signal to a perfect TV quality when I switched to the digitalnow product.
Glad others have got the card working but without some serious driver improvements this card should be avoided, plenty of better cards out on the market, use them!
You are not using some variation of ScanChannelBDA are you?
This tool was developed by Nate at the DVBowners forum, but some guys from Europe got the source code and made some variations to suit themselves, and I think these are floating around. You should not use these versions.
have now returned my card to UMART in Brisbane for refund. They are in contact with Melbourne supplier who insists they have no issues and wants to "inspect" card for fault. What a waste of time & money this card has been! Since removing this card I have now NO issues with MCE, channel changing, stuttering....full recording capabilities again....no blue screening....purrrrfecto

The card is distributed by newmagic in Sydney - not sure why they have supplier in Melbourne... they should contact distributer (mark harwood @ newmagic). They should sort you (well UMART) out.
Hi, I would like to add that I am considering ditching my dual DVICO after sometime getting it right. The final straw was the usb power surge from this, I know it can be overcome but I not keen to reinstall.
Anyway I too was considering the nova-t 500 but after reading this forum have decided not to buy due to the problems lots are having. Too many manufacturers and vendors are getting away with selling products under developed and not performing their designed tasks adequately, could tell numerous examples.
As consumers we are being ripped off, we purchase a product and then use it, not f#$k around with it for the next year getting it to work as it was designed, marketed and sold to do.
Sorry for my rant. All we can do is let them now it is not acceptable and buy accordingly. I applaud forums such as this for the wealth of information it provides to make better purchasing decisions.
I asked some time back re this card and its suitability and from the feedback I was encouraged to avoid it and go the DigitalNow DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid PCI-E (I see there is now a new version out, damn it...)
FYI all I can say is that it all works well now. I am still playing with signal strength but I get all channels (Sydney) with no stutter. One thing I can suggest to all of you with stutter is to go and buy a couple of attenuators from Jaycar, say a 6dB and a 12dB and try them to see if it fix's/improves your problems as too high a signal strength can be a greater problem than too little. I am using 20dB.
Getting this card required a new motherboard to get a PCI-e x1 slot. I chose the
ASUS P5VDC-MX as it had two PCI, one PCI-e 1x and an AGP 8 graphics slot and could also take both DDR and DDR2 memory. This allowed me to keep the AGP graphics card and the DDR 400 memory.
I went with the Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 and am very happy I did. This processor although expensive is fantastic. Low power, low heat and plenty of grunt.
The two PCI slots have a wireless card and a Creative Audigy Value card. Tried the internal ASUS SPDIF SoundMax sound but it still suffers sound pauses as did my old
P4P800-VM. When are ASUS/SoundMax going to get it right...
I hope this help

I've tried them and they seem to have reduced stuttering in ABC/SBS - I've had very few stutter issues in the last 24 hours.....
I ran the HcwDriverInstall.exe utility which updated the USB drivers, reboot and all good.
Keen to hear others views.
Downloaded the 3.3a beta drivers - very slow ftp site, had to use cli ftp to get the file.
Only updated the nova 500-t driver (14/11/2006) as the hvr1100 driver (7/7/2006) remains unchanged.
Tested ABC, ABC2 & SBS channels with mixed results. At one stage I had continuous stutter free ABC & SBS viewing for the entire evening but stutter problem came back briefly the next morning for a few minutes.
Overall definite improvement with the new drivers for the Nova 500.-t
One trick that I use to stop the stuttering is to swap to a working channel, wait for 30 secs and switch back to the stuttering channel and in most of the time the stuttering would go away with the new drivers.
I run a 5 tuner config, Nova 500-T, HVR1100, dual DNTV usb (Lifeview TV Walker Twin) and have more successes with the DNTV tuners.
In summary, if you live in Melbourne and still keen to keep the Nova 500-T and like to watch more stutter free SBS/ABC TV, it is worthwhile to upgrade to the 3.3a beta drivers.

I can second this - downloaded and installed drivers and the stutter on ABC and SBS have improved but has not been completely resolved Approximately 1 - 2 stutters an hour?

I also concur... but I wish I had the same level of reduced stuttering. Even a few stutters an hour would be nice! I have even had recorded programs on ABC have so much stutter that the resultant drv-ms files (which I like to watch on my laptop on the train going to/from work) are only a few hundred Mb.... there is so much data missing that there is more silence and frozen frames than there is stuttering video... and practically no smooth video at all.
Also, I have found the "swap to a working channel, wait for 30 secs and switch back" trick does work (sometimes).
the problem to me seems to be with the locking of the frequency, it's especiailly noticable when you change to the channel.
When you run the scanchannels util it seems to take a couple of attempts to lock in at 100% (averaged mode). Once it does the channel runs at 100%. Switching back and forth makes the channels lock. I haven't tried the new driver as yet.
