DVICO DVB-T Plus - Tuner not found :(

Hi,

Just installed MCE 2005 along with rollup2. I've got a DVico DTB-T Plus card and I've also installed the latest driver. When launching Media Center and try to scan TV channels, it'd give me an error saying there's no tuner card detected.

Has anyone else experienced this before or is it just me?

I may reinstall everything tonight, as I'm already in the brink of giving up

Thanks.

Any luck?

Does the Dvico FusionHDTV Software detect the card?

Also did you have a look at the sticky? http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...vb-t-plus.html

Thanks for your reply. I finally got MCE detect the card after a re-install of everything. Wasn't a very fun thing to do :P

However.... I'm now facing a new problem. The FusionHDTV application that comes with the card can scan the SBS channel, but MCE can't. I was frustrated with this as I thought everything was all good then (was ready to enjoy my HTPC and watch the world cup games peacefully). I even tried installing Media Portal, and it can't detect SBS either. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? If so, a pointer would be really really appreciated.

I went as far as borrowing a Terratec dual-tuner card from a friend and both MCE and Media Portal don't have any problems detecting SBS with this card.

DVICO = pain, and I think this could be my last purchase from them :/

Umm... I had problems with SBS, but a new antenna fixed that. MCE appears to require a better signal quality than FusionHDTV software - real pain, you would think it requires the same. Argh!

What signal quality are you getting in FusionHDTV? anything less than 80-82% (if I can remember 4 months back) and I have found to struggle with MCE and only bearable for FusionHDTV (after the channel has been tuned) so it could be your signal strength.

Also what version of the Fusion drivers are you running? I has issues with 3.2 and I think I am running with 3.3Beta1 - but I will confirm that late tonight.

Re: DVICO DVB-T Plus - Tuner not found :(

Hmm I'm not sure about the signal quality, but I'll check that later after work tonight. The fact that MCE requires better signal makes sense, but that seems to prove that the Terratec card is superior to the DVico one, as it's working fine without any problems.

I'm still using the driver that comes with the package. I believe it's the 3.2 one. I will try the 3.3 or even the beta 3.4 tonight and see if it's better.

If updating the driver does no good, it looks like I have to either replace my antenna or buy another card. The latter option sounds like the safer one, as it's been proven to work for me :/

My feeling at the moment is pretty much summed up by your avatar

LOL, yeah getting MCE up for the first time is like that. Especially trying to get the right MPeg 2 decoder that doesn't break all the channels and supports DVDs.

I have found complete uninstalling the DVico drivers and restarting the PC before attempting to reinstall is best (but doesn't always work unfortunantely) before attempting to load the new driver.

Just confirming that I am using Fusion 3.3 Beta 1 at the moment. Being MCE, I have not updated to latest drivers as things finally started working and as such I haven't touched a thing since.

Just a quick look at the thread re 3.41 Beta didn't look too hot : http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/comm...-released.html

but saying that it may be fine for you - as the DVico moved to Thompson tuners with the Plus, my old T1s are using the old LG tuner if I remember correctly.

Good Luck!

I have got this very same problem! I've done 2 reinstalls so far and no luck

How did you get yours working? Did you change the order of ur install?

I did this:

-Installed Windows MCE
-Updated all my hardware drivers (mobo, vga, etc)
-Updated windows through automatic update
-Installed HDTV tuner showing all usb devices correctly.
-Installed Net Framework 1.1
-Installed Net Framework 2.0
-Installed Net Framework 1.1 Service Pack
<everything working so far!>
- Last but not least. Installed Rollup 2!
<TV Tuner no longer detected in MCE>!

You should do all MCE updates (inc. Rollup 2, .Net, etc) before installing the tuner & drivers.
Also, you shuld image you "clean" MCE system after doing all the MCE updates and before installing the tuner/drivers. Will save a lot of re-installs down the track...!

The following worked for me - again I am using FusionHDTV DVB-T1 a different Tuner (though I believe that the Thompson tuners in the DVB-T Plus and Lites should be a bit better):

1) Installed MCE - used 12 GB Partition
2) Manually installed .Net Framework 1.1 - downloaded redist pack
3) Mannuall installed .Net Framework Service Pack - downloaded redist pack
4) Manually installed RU2 - downloaded the exe from previous failed installs
5) Ran Windows Update (upto March - the time my stable build was preformed)
6) * Imaged my MCE partition *
7) Installed MoBo Drivers
8) Installed FusionHDTV 3.3 Beta 1 Drivers
9) Installed ffshow (for DivX etc)
10) Installed PowerDVD 7 - Ran the MCE Decoder Selector to ensure that PowerDVD was default.
11) Installed IceTV guide setup

12) Then ran MCE Setup, MCE found both tuners, I said yes to setup guide, selected IceTV Guide, Scanned all channels and finally became alive.

I agree with vbap, install all MCE software updates before the tuner drivers. And take an Image if you can - HUGE time saver - I have restored the image twice without a hitch.

I also think that you are comming undone with RU2 at the end IMHO. I would install RU2 first and leave windows update work on top of RU2.

Re: DVICO DVB-T Plus - Tuner not found :(

Having the same trouble with SBS. But in my case definitely due to signal strength. Some time I get sometime I dont. A Quick check of signal strength confirmed that.

Cheers mal

Re: DVICO DVB-T Plus - Tuner not found :(

Hey guys,

As pointed out by PhaseLock, MCE requires better signal strength than the TV app that comes with the card. I couldn't afford the hassle and the cost of replacing the antenna, so I went to Dick Smith to purchase a signal amplifier, which cost $50. Now I can see SBS in MCE! :3)

Hmmm which Mpeg2 decoder do you guys use? I'm wondering if I'm not using the right one, as MCE would crash when viewing HD Live TV once in a while.
