A few weeks ago I entered this site into a contest to determine the best Windows Vista site out there. I confess to not having kept tabs on things but was informed this morning that we've made the short list of 10 sites.
Here's the low-down on the contest:
============================= The WinVistaClub have a poll running for "The 'Best Windows Vista Website' 2008" and XPMediaCentre.com.au is one of the 10 that have made it onto the shortlist.
With the panel of judges comprising Steve Sinchak MVP of TweakVista.com , John Barnett MVP of VistaSupport.mvps.org , Steven Bink of Bink.nu , Kerry Brown MVP of VistaHelp.ca , Aryeh Goretsky MVP of Eset.com , James Stables of WindowsVistaMagazine.com , Emil Protalinski of Arstechnica.com , Barney Tormey of Neowin.net and Andy from WinVistaClub this is a great acheivement in itself to be on this list so what are YOU waiting for? Jump on over to WinVistaClub and place your vote as voting closes September 10.
=============================
Sadly the contest has only 7 days left to go and because I haven't let you guys know, we're languishing in last place
So we now have a week to recitify that, there are some prizes involved and even though I haven't even thought about how to do it, should we qualify for a prize at the end, they will be re-awarded to community members here.
So let's get cracking guys, we need plenty of votes to ensure that not only can I give away some cool stuff here, but more importantly let's show the world what a truly informative & helpful community we are!
Either click the button at the top of this post or the link below and select "Vista & XP Media Center"
I voted for this site, although just a little, teensy, weensy, bit begrudgingly since I can only see a list of 3 unread post entries with all of the superflous text, graphics, advertising (accepted as a necessary evil), and the huge plea-box for voting.
I don't know how big other peoples' screens are but having to scroll excessively for content is annoying, something I don't have to do with the other sites I didn't vote for.
Full marks on the speed issue since the upgrade...this site is now acceptable in page load times at all times of the day. But all the visual clutter continues to get worse and reduces site functionality, which, is the point of any site's existence, to serve us, the users.
