Without going into detail about the process, all things considered, I guess it went reasonably smoothly.
So what's changed? Well not too much on the surface (a bit like Vista SP1

) but I'm sure the more observant will pick up a few differences.
Member Profile
The member profile page is different and is now editable, so for those with some creative flair, there's a limited amount you can do to dress up your profile. Check yours out (
http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/members/your_user_name - then
look at mine - mine's really crap I know, but that only took me 30 secs and is only used to demonstrate the editability.
Blogs
We have a new and much better integrated blogging system, however, since nobody really used the old one I doubt that will excite too many.
Gallery
We also have the new gallery running, so for those that either want to re-create their old album or for those of you who never did, it's a good place to show off your fav. piccies.
Thread Tagging
Is a new way to facilitate searching and grouping of threads. It's now possible for members to add tags to threads they post or read. If we all use this, it will certainly assist the new people find things more easily.
Reciprocal Friendships Between Members
As part of the new social networking function, members can now request that people on their buddy list confirm their friendship, after which time a person's list of confirmed friends will be viewable to other users.
Public Messaging
While private messages between members have always been used, vBulletin 3.7 introduces the public messaging system, allowing members to communicate publicly via their profile pages.
Member-Created Social Groups
To encourage social cohesion between our members and to encourage people to make friends, we now have the facility to allow members to create their own social/interest groups. These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from group members' albums.
Attachment Viewing Lightbox
Clicking on an attached image will now open a lightbox rather than open a new window, with the image scaled to fit the browser viewport. A click on the image in the lightbox will open it in a new window as before. I have noticed however that the page needs to finish loading before the lightbox kicks in.
Of course, there are a lot of other additions under the hood, but for now, the above should keep you busy for a few minutes at least.
As always, if you come across any broken area(s), please post the info to this thread. I notice that I'm still receiving some emails informing me of database errors from the old blog. I suspect that during the close down, people have been clicking links in Google to programs which were uninstalled & deleted so hopefully that will die down over the next few days.
OK, well I'm off for some food and a sleep - I'll check back later to see how it's all going.
Mike
