Forum pages taking a long time to display

Howdy
I use Avant Browser, which is based on IE, but it takes ages for forum pages to display. Everything down to the "User CP... FAQ... New Posts" line comes up straight away, but it can take up to 20-30 seconds for the rest of the page to appear. Browsing the site with IE doesn't have this issue, so it's either a setting or a bug within Avant. Any ideas?

Apologies up-front if this is too technical....

The HTML content seems to be in one large TABLE element and that's notorious for slow appearance in web browsers as browsers tend to wait until they receive all the HTML for that TABLE before rendering it.

I'm sorry but I can't provide any suggestions for the Avant issue, and as far as the table structure is concerned, that one is way out of my hands since it's pure VBulletin output.

Given the huge constraints placed on the VB developers by having to satisfy a myriad of their users' website design needs and system configurations, I frankly doubt we'll see "table-less XHTML 1.0 Strict" output for a very long time, if ever.

Strange, as I was using this site all day - no problems, fast refresh. Using Firefox.

Have to agree - Firefox 3 (beta 4) is electric compared to IE7!

I've just made the change to firefox 3 beta 5 (from V2) and I've definatly noticed the difference in all pages, not only this forum but others and Gmail (Javascript driven) loaded at least twice as fast!!
