XPMediaCentre Wiki???

Hi,

I have been a member of this forum for a while an this place is a goldmine for information, so much so this site has been able to obviously be sold on. However, with so many posts, so many suggestions it can often take some time in finding the exact solution to a problem.

Last week I couldn't help myself and bought me an ASUS EEE PC and absolutely love it. I've found a community website there and they also have heaps fo solutions for doing different things. However what they do different is that they have a wiki where they publish confirmed solutions to common problems so that it is the official documentation place.

I think a wiki would work equally well here and would be absolutely fantastic... That way common things (such as setting up the guide, setting up 5.1 surround, configuring the remote to change stereo volume, eetc) could all be found there and the forums would be more around new found issues or new addons, etc.

What does everyone else think???

Re: XPMediaCentre Wiki???

Hi Scott - a good idea but regrettably I've already been down this path a bit over 12 months ago now.

A couple of members requested/suggested it so I spent quite some time adding a "VBWiki" which was integrated into our database to enable us to easily add content without having to sign up again to another area.

Sadly, 6 months later, nobody had added anything and despite a number of requests to the members, it never got off of the ground.

The problem is that it requires constant attention/updating and most people would rather help out when somebody asks a question - even if it's the same question many times over.

So based on previous experience here, I doubt we'll see one again unless I become convinced that a large number of people are willing to put up their hands to add content and then maintain it.

Mike
