I receive quite a few emails each week requesting help with two kinds of error message, the following should help anyone who experiences these errors to understand what has happened and take corrective action.
Please note! - the first error is usually encountered when someone either attempts to register using a bogus email address or fails to regularly check the email address provided.
------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Unconfirmed Registration
I receive many emails each week from new members saying that they can't download or reply to posts. If a
new member receives the following error when trying to start a new thread, reply to a post or access downloads etc:
You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons (etc. etc.)
This message is seen when someone has registered but has not confirmed (activated) their account. During the registration process when you enter your email address you would have seen:
"Please enter a valid email address. NOTE - We confirm email addresses supplied at registration and your account will remain inactive until deleted if you supply incorrect information"
Upon submitting your registration, an automated email is generated and sent to the email address provided. Within the body of that email is a hyperlink that needs to be clicked (or copied and pasted into a browser window) - this action verifies your email address and activates your account. Until this is done, your permissions will not allow for any activity other than viewing the forum.
Also - if your Outlook client is set to generate an "Out Of Office" divert for any reason, or you are using an external spam filter (i.e. spamarrest.com) which requires manual action (click) by someone here to verify this site as a real person and not a spammer - our verification email will possibly never reach you.
Finally, we continually seem to experience problems with members who register using
yourname@adam.com.au - if adam.com.au is your ISP, please select another email address, despite many emails to their administration, it would seem that we are unable to send emails to any adam.com.au addresses!
------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Staying Logged In
The second most common error being encountered by registered members is staying logged in. If you encounter this situation or experience strange behaviour whilst navigating the site - it's most likely that you initially logged in to the site using the domain: xpmediacent
er.com.au
Whilst I own that domain as well
and it points to the main one, you should be using
xpmediacentre.com.au to enter the site - that will make the problem go way
------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope these tips help.
