Hauppauge HVR 2200 Won't install on 32bit Vista :(

Hey guys,

Great forum here.

I have just purchased a brand new pc with a Hauppuage 2200.

I have installed the drivers but can't run the setup file on the CD or anything I download wont work.

I am running Windows Vista Business (32-bit)

Can anyone help me or steer me in the direction of finding the right software to download or the best alround procedure to get this bad boy running

The HVR 2200 is designed to run with Media Centre, Vista Business doesn't have media centre, you'll need either Home Premium or Ultimate. You might be able to try the WinTV proggie on the Hauppauge UK site. http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/support/support_hybrid.html

Unfortunately in Australia the HVR-2200 doesn't come with any software as it is supposed to work with VMC.

I checked with their tech support here in Australia recently and they are working on getting this card to work with their WinTV app, but it could be months....

Might be worthwhile paying for an upgrade to Vista Ultimate or ideally if you can, just return it and swap for another card which has its own software app, like Avermedia or something.

Or, if the shop that sold you the PC is the same shop that sold you the card, try to get them to upgrade the OS for free (or just swap it for Vista Home Premium).

WinTV 7 v1.1 supports the HVR-2200, but only one tuner. I don't know if this will be fixed in 1.1a which is to be released very soon, or in the next version.

There is plenty of other software you can use without having to change the card for something else. GB-PVR and MediaPortal are both free, and they support the card as a dual-tuner. There is also DVBViewer which is very cheap but also supports it.

I personally use DVBViewer.
