where to find xbox (not 360) media center extender software
Hi all, new to Windows MCE (after having played around with mythtv and Mediaportal) and just getting to know it. Something I need to get working to make MCE a winner is remote extenders, preferably using the old xboxes, of which I have a couple.
Currently I run XBMC on them, and it's fantastic for playback and streaming. It also has plugins for mythtv and Mediaportal, but not MCE.
Would anyone be able to help me locate the xbox software?
Please?
Re: where to find xbox (not 360) media center extender software
I don't think it's possible to get Xbox software that'll log on to the MCE computer in the same method as any other MCE extender does, including the 360. You may be able to watch DVR-MS files and other standard videos, photos, music using XBMC (Xbox Media Center) but you can't stream live TV to it.
Re: where to find xbox (not 360) media center extender software
There used to be an extender DVD for the old XBOX that would connect to MCE2005. There used to be some on ebay, but they don't appear to be there any more.

That's what I was thinking of dgaust.
I run XBMC and can stream all the media files from networked PCs, but haven't seen the extender kits anywhere. Also I have a DVD remote, so assume I just need the software.
Not even sure if it was released in Aus, so might be asking too much I guess.

It was available in Australia at one stage, I remember you could buy them from my Wholesaler I was using when I had a game shop. But since basically everything for the original Xbox has been discontinued since the end of 2006 it will be quite difficult to get.

Thanks Supafly, that makes sense.
Would you know if the software would function with the standard DVD remote & dongle?
If so I may be able to find the software somewhere, but if not I'll just give up as no doubt the kit is more difficult to get hold of (and I don't really want more hardware).
Cheers.
Update:
Now that Remote Potato (RP) has direct MCE EPG access too, i can compare (both in Silverlight GUI):
- loading a Day's worth of 20 channels:
RP : 5 seconds
By Remote: 11 seconds

It sounds like this is a reality now (i.e. BD playback) with certain softplayers, but was wondering if anyone can confirm?
I have ALC889, but I belive only difference is that gigabyte licensed dolby...
Hi,
I am using the subject motherboard (utilising ATI Display Driver V10.2 & Win7 HDMI Audio Driver) without problems.
Do you have the same problem with Live TV or just playback?
