re: New util: MC Menu Mender
Thanks, i'll let her know
Looks like you're getting the same error as surge. I'll try to implement a fix soon.
Cheers, hopefully that helps people!
I'm not sure... sounds like you're falling foul of Windows File Protection - Windows keeps replacing the modified files with the originals. Previously renaming the file was enough to fool it, maybe not after SP1. You could try disabling Windows File Protection, but obviously that's not a great solution. Otherwise, you might have to wait for the non-beta version, by which time I will have hopefully worked this out
[Edit: Ignore that stuff about Windows File Protection - Vista doesn't use that, it uses Windows Resource Protection, which is completely different]
This error (warning, actually) message is expected. It happens every time you load the app, and is not a problem at all. I'll probably filter it out in future versions. If you're experiencing a crash, please attach the entire log.txt file so I can take a look. If it is VMC that is crashing, please keep in mind the issue I told you about in the initial beta post - if you move links between strips, make sure you move them to a strip after the strip you're moving them from in the list.Media Center Studio

re: New util: MC Menu Mender
I am currently running SP1 and installed without issues. I have changed multiple menu items locations as well as names, and removed others all without issue.
Advent: the only thing I do need to manually close is ehtray. with it closed everything saves fine.
I will be donating on tuesday as soon as I get paid. My WAF went through the roof last night when she was using VMC and all unused items are now removed
VERY impressed

Now I've done it. Encouraged the better half to get involved in the technology of the louge room

Only joking, when I donate make sure Advent buys you something nice for allowing him the time to create such a great tool

re: New util: MC Menu Mender
Second that
I have Vista SP1 and followed the instructions
(ran the script to take ownership of the DLL / MUI), then closed "ehtray" and then ran the application (I've disabled UAC so didn't need to run as Administrator, as happens automatically) and it worked an absolute charm.
I did get an error like some have reported the first time before I took ownership of the DLL / MUI file, so it's worth checking that for people that have issues.
Thanks Advent - so good to be able to move Video Library down to TV, where it should be!

re: New util: MC Menu Mender
Advent, thank you for this tool. It goes further than any other to right some of the crazy things MS did with Vista media centre. Now, has any one found a way to get a list view into the Video's folder?

re: New util: MC Menu Mender
This Menu Customiser is just what I needed!
Just one minor thing I need to do to finish off my setup is to get Maximus Arcade listed in program list as it currently does not appear. I would really like to have this on the main start menu and not in programs, so I desperately need this to come up in your program.
Why would it not be in the list as it is in my program list when I run VMC?? Missing Registry entry maybe?
If anyone could shed some light on how to add this I would be most grateful
On another note Menu Customiser also locks after making one change. It saves the change but after it I need to force the program to close. I am running in Admin. Anything I can do about this?
I have also included my error log with Menu Mender. Couldnt get it going .. would love to give it a try as it looks far easier than the hack I have done. Cheers ... and ...
Thanks in Advance.
