Re: Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005)
I think your problem is slightly different. You say you lost the guide data, this thread is about losing the actual channel.

Re: Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005)
THought I'd give a definateive answer, so the thread stays on topic
I had the problem once, spoke to IceTV and as Scritch said, it because you lose you ID. The reason is due to whenever a rollup is installed, it resets your ID and you have to re-install IceTV to get this working again. So a simple re-install will get anyone with this issue up and running with all data, instead of the "Sample" data that is ABC..."Main": LC16M Case | ABIT AN8 Ultra | True Power 2.0 PSU | Zalman Coolers (CPU, VGA) | Ahtlon 64 3000+ | 2GB RAM | GeForce 7600GT | 2x AVerTV Hybrid (A16AR) | WIRED | MCE Remote | Wireless KB & Mouse | 7MC

Re: Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005)
Previous/Next
One tester reported problems this week. But it was with SBS, right when they changed their name so I dont believe this is an issue. Other testers have reported back that they can schedule recordings from the web via PIMP just fine.
We're still putting the hotfix through a final batch of regression testing (checking that nothing has changed if you install the hotfix and dont enable it via a registry key).
My updated guestimate is 1-2 weeks before its available from Microsoft support.
Obtaining the hotfix will be the same situation as the disableUpdateDiscSvc hotfix - the hotfix will be available, but there wont be a KB article written and published for support to see. This can lead to some confusion for support when you try and obtain the hotfix. When the hotfix is released, I'll give some clear instructions on how to get it.
Cheers

Mike - word of warning... ensure your hosted servers are bolted to the floor and have increased capacity - cause as soon as we hear its available, us aussies will hammer the provided URL very quickly to fix this thing (Hopefully once and for all !!! (Mind you if it does not fix it, we might be hammering you and your testers instead - LOL ))
As a side note - whoever finds this first - 32 bit and 64 bit - and attaches it to a post here, is likely to break all records of the Thanks Button brigade !!

Obtaining the hotfix will be the same situation as the disableUpdateDiscSvc hotfix -- what does this update do?
Looking forward to getting the update Mike, I will finally have an EPG in Vista after this is out!! Which I have contemplated many times lately due to CH7 putting V8's, and CH10 putting MotoGP and f1 all over the place so a manual recording must be done each week/fortnight and an EPG will alleviate this annoyance altogether
I will be very happy as have been holding off for a stable EPG before I launch any promotion and building of dedicated Media Centres for installation to Joe Public.
I am gearing up and going to be spending less time on the 360 playing online and more time on more productive and lucrative pursuits...I for one am happy that Microsoft has taken note of a problem that affects a country of only 21 Million. Maybe after the fix is out they will keep an eye out on how we are all going Down Under a little closer.

My fresh install (2 months maybe) was finally hit while watching channel 7 tonight at 6pm ish.
I used the mini guide fix and it was fine.

what is the "mini-guide fix"?

Re: Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005)
Hi,
The "mini guide fix" is where you watch TV then hit the up or down arror to bring up the mini guide in Vista. You then scroll to the channel that moved, ie: channel 7 in my case moved to 4, so I scroll to 4 and then hit enter to watch it. Next time you look at the guide after a few seconds, it should fix itself.
However this doesn't always work, but it has for me every time so far. I only lose channnel 7.

Thanks Lester. I will try that when it happens again. I just lost 7 again last night! Hopefully the hotfix from MS will be out before I get bitten again!

Re: Loosing Channels / Guide disappearing – IceTV and Vista (Possibly also MCE2005)
If this doesn't work do the same "scroll to the channel that moved, ie: channel 7 in my case moved to 4", then hit record. Then move to another station this always fixes 7 for me. SBS can be a bit more difficult, this can be fixed by going to the scan for more services option.
