Unhappy MCE customiser recording padding problem

    Hi,

I am trying to extend my scheduled recording time using MCE Customiser, but even when I set the post padding time to 900 seconds, recordings stop much earlier (around the scheduled time on the EPG). I am using ICE TV as my EPG. Has anyone else had this problem? It is very annoying!!

I'm guessing that this just sets the "soft padding" setting in the registry. From my reading on this forum and my experience, MCE usually just ignores this setting completely. Everyone seems to use "hard padding", where you go into the settings for the show/series and select "stop 15 minutes after". This can cause recording conflicts, which is a total bummer when you're trying to record something on one channel from 8:30-9:30, then another program on another channel from 9:30-10:30. Some people have 3 tuner cards just to solve this problem.

Re: MCE customiser recording padding problem

As perseus says - playing with the sofy padding is almost useless. I tried the reg hacks for it and it worked for a while then went back to the MCE maximum 4 minutes. The values in the registry were still at 15 minutes, but MCE just seemed to ignore it.

Anyway, I now go with hard padding and I put in a third tuner card to help with overlaps.
