No TV Signal Message

My media center is almost perfect. With S3, RU2, BRP working flawlessly. The only problem:
- I've scheduled the system to do a regular reboot during the night.
- Unfortunately, after reboot, for the first live TV that I tune in, I'll get No TV signal message. The message will dissapear and live TV will be fine after you flick to another channel and back. Again, the problem is only ONCE after reboot, then it will be ok for the rest of the time.
- The problem, is if I have an early morning recording before tuning to any life TV, then that show won't be recorded - no TV signal.

- My solution is currently to use optimization (from RU2) instead of reboot.

- Ideally I would like to reboot the unit each day, but got this stupid bug...

Any idea?? Anyone having this problem... Thanks...

Re: No TV Signal Message

Well it does sound quite similar to something that I get happening but I'm not 100% certain it's linked to the reboot. What has been going through my head is the possibility that MCE is having difficulty on occasions to initialise (or whatever it does) the Tuner Card. To me that would be a plausible explanation but unfortunately brings me no closer to a solution.

Re: No TV Signal Message

Anyone know how to solve this problem with no tv signal? I've got a few failed recordings today after rebooting.

Re: No TV Signal Message

Whitford,

are you running ru2? Did you use a "hacked" version of psisdecd.dll?

Re: No TV Signal Message

Yes, I'm running RU2. No, I don't use any hacked dll. I'm using the newest version of purevideo.

So this is the problem:
1. Restart / switch computer on from "off".
2. Click Live TV.
3. MCE thinks for around 5-6 seconds (round turning circle appear) then No TV signal message appear.
4. Flick to another channel.
5. Normal TV appear, then MCE won't miss a beat until I restart again.

I guess the consequences is that i can't reschedule a reboot on its own each night. Because if I haven't changed channel, and there's a recording in the morning then that show won't be recorded. Currently the MCE is left on 24 hours (with S3 standby after 15 minutes) and optimisation each night. And for me to reboot (then change channel) once a while (1-2 x / week).

Anyone elses having this problem. Seems that MCE having problem initialiasing the tuner each time after start. and once it changes to another channel once, then everything will be good...

Weird.... Thanks heaps...

Re: No TV Signal Message

Hi whitford,

As a temporary solution, you could schedule a 1 minute recorded series to kick in a minute or two after your scheduled reboot. If I read you right, it's only the very first tuner change that is giving you problems, so subsequent recordings for the day should be OK.

Re: No TV Signal Message

Hmmm... Na.. setting the manual recording does not seem to work. I need to literally manually change channel before it will work. Then once you change channel, MCE will work flawlessly...

Strange..... May be I will just need to live with once a week reboot instead of daily reboot.

How often do you guys reboot anyway?? Thanks heaps..

I'm using purevideo codec btw, tried purevideo, no difference - still no tv signal. Thus it seems to be tv card driver related issues (Avermedia). Anyone else have this "strange" behaviour?

Re: No TV Signal Message

I've got this issue happening on my system as well - mostly with Channel 7 and 7HD. I am using DVICO Fusion HDTV Lite cards and there are some 3.1.2 beta drivers available from the developer site I am going to try and see if they fix anything.

Regards,
Shane.

Re: No TV Signal Message

Oh well... this is what I found.
- If I watch SEVEN / SEVEN HD as the first channel to watch after computer restart then I will get No TV Signal message.
- However, if I start with any other channel other than Seven, then I will not get any problem.
- The same problem applies with recording.
- If the first recording after restart / start from off position is on SEVEN, then it won't record.
- If the first recording coming from any other channel, then everything seems to work ok....

Weeirrd...... Anyone elses emulate this problem?

Re: No TV Signal Message

Are you getting good signal strength to both cards?

What happens if you re-run the TV setup wizard and only select one tuner card?
