David,
Gotta tell you, you would have to have a BIG house or equipment behind wooden doors to need the 890. The only difference is the 890 included RF transmission of it's instructions as well as IR. The 880 is IR only and is therefore limited to reasonable distance, "line of site" and not excessive ambient light.
I and many have found the Harmony a spectacular remote, easy to program, at a very reasonable price (if you trust aussiedels.com.au as they are selling at virtual NO margin).
My $0.02 worth - but the 880 now (if IR only is OK for you) and enjoy your entertainment centre. If you don't, and buy it years down the track, you will be kicking yourself saying "I wasted so much time with all those confusing remotes").
Regards,
Larry & Colleen

the big question .. is it really worth it? It's a lotta $$. But 'anywhere in the house and on the deck' AV control is not going to come cheap..
Maybe I'll just procrastinate for another 12-18 months and get nothing at all. That's what I usually do
Any thoughts?
