How to get iPhone outright

I went to Telstra shop today and they told me that if I have Telstra NextG simm, that I can get iPhone 8GB outright, for $729
I have a work mobile, with NextG simm, and it was enough for them to sell iPhone to me
Unlocking cost another $150, but no plans

When I can get a similar deal with Three, I'll have to give it serious consideration, especially since my old faithful has just about given up the ghost - just in time

Re: How to get iPhone outright

Mike,

FYI - http://www.3shopdirect.com.au/blog/

You can register your iPhone interest here with 3.
I've heard they're coming to prepaid with other carriers, so maybe you an get it outright at a cheaper price. It would be worth seeing if you get an iphone if you can get a deal if you port to 3.

Also FYI, I've read a few things on the iphone... here's some of the limitations I've heard about:
- No MMS
- GPS only birds eye, not turn-by-turn
- no cut+paste
- no videocall

You might also want to look into the media support (ie. music and video file formats).

Mind you, even with the above I'm still kinda keen on it.

Cheers - Scott

Re: How to get iPhone outright

Guys you can get thhe Iphone through Optus. The 16Gb is $849 with $400 worth of calls on prepaid, then after the calls run out pay $50 for unlock. I plan on doing this as soon as i get back from Hawaii with work, unfortunaetly in the US they will not sell the phone to anybody who dosnt have a US social security number so not able to buy it cheaper here.

Like all the iProducts - iPhone's over-priced and over-hyped. $750+ for a mobile phone?

Old man
Any smartphone is about the same price or more expensive. Take Windows Mobile, or Nokia, or Motorola, or Blackberry. They are not over-hyped, but same or more price.
Reasonable person will not buy one, but reasonable is not my middle name.

Re: How to get iPhone outright

I brought an iPhone from ebay about 7months ago, $800 I unlocked it and it's still going strong.

I love it

Note: They do not have Bluetooth support, don't know about the new ones though.

Re: How to get iPhone outright

Unlocking and jailbreaking is free if you use PwnageTool 2.0.

Enough said
