Apple iphone can be used as an Apple TV Remote

This is a pretty cool feature for the iphone - http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/0...-turns-ip.html

I mentioned a while back that it would be cool if the Zune could be an MCE remote... I think Microsoft would have sold a lot more Zunes if they did this.

The reason why I want this is coz if I'm having a beer on my deck and want to change songs in the living room, I don't have to get up, I can see the library on screen an select the music to play.

My 2 cents... Mind you this is a good example of where Apple has thought outside the square and has brought synergies with their products... Similar to the PSP and PS3 connectivity.

Scott.

I do something similar with my PocketPC and salling clicker. There is actually a mediacentre script available, and it's good for controlling the Music part of things.

There has been a sideshow remote program designed for MediaCentre, works on Windows Mobile 5 and above. Never used it myself.

Re: Apple iphone can be used as an Apple TV Remote

I noticed this, I've had a play controlling iTunes with the iPhone which is kinda fun.

I really really hope someone can come up with an application to run Media Center with the iPhone. That'd be just fantastic!

Yeah agreed a windows mobile device works, however what I really want is for any web based device to control MCE as a remote... That way connectivity could be pretty much limitless.

Thanks, dgaust, that shows a lot of promise!

Not quite a wireless remote control, but certainly a good music controller!

ETA: Just found the other controls, so yeah, it's a good thing! I wonder in someone is going to make an iPhone skin...

Re: Apple iphone can be used as an Apple TV Remote

dguast - Thank - you so so much for letting me know about this!
I've wanted this for ages... Closest option I found was to VNC to my media centre but the whole intertaction thing was poor.

I'll test it out and let you all know.

Cheers - Scott

There already is an iPhone skin for it.... I actually think it was designed for use with an iPhone. There might be a setting in there somewhere.

For that price I would have thought it would be able to beam me up to Europe and back.

Beam me up Scottie.
