Re: Well for this price...I know where Apple can stick their iPhone.
Actually if you read it carefully it isn't particularly expensive at all. Take out the cost of the phone plan and you're left with US$500 - $600. Compare that with the O2 Atom for instance and it happens to stack up quite competitively. In fact it's dead set cheap at little more than half the price. That article is typical journalistic grandstanding. Imagine suggesting the cost of the plan has anything to do with the cost of the phone. Even if you look at the plan cost at around US$700 p/a. it's not exactly over the top. Why not change the headline to say you might have to pay $100,000 and simply embed the math on how many years of phone plan you get in the article... hogwash!

Sorry Phil...for those prices I'd want it to have a mouth and be able to provide "extracurricular activities".
Re: Well for this price...I know where Apple can stick their iPhone.
None of that is really news. The handset price and 2 yr contract has been known since January. It's a high end smart phone, the service was never going to be cheap especially with unlimited data. If you priced a high end smart phone here with a comparable phone plan and decent data limit the price wouldn't be too different.

Well I'd agree that for the average user AUD$700 might be at the higher end but I paid nearly $1300 for mine. Put together the cost of a phone and a ipod and add a touchscreen and I really can't see what all the fuss is about.
