Perth Australian EPG

Hi Guys,

I've been having a go a setting up the EPG guide using the instructions at http://www.bmpbargins.biz/mce_epg.htm but when I get to the point of running QuickGuide.exe (Step 8) I get the following error in the DOS window. Everything else appears to go through fine. I have bot Listing.xml and Listing2.XML, I have checked both config files for correct paths etc.

************************************************** ****

Error: Could not parse XMLTV Date
Stack Trace: at QuickGuide.EPGXMLWriter.XMLTVDate(String s) at QuickGuide.EPGXMLWriter.Create(DataSet XMLTV, DataSet Channels, String filename)
at QuickGuide.QuickGuideWorker.CreateXMLFile(String&a mp; encryptedFile, String XMLTVFile)
at QuickGuide.Starter.Main(String[] args)
****** XML Creation failed

Press 'Enter' key to exit.

(Use /batch parameter to suppress this prompt.)

************************************************** ****

Anyone got any ideas. I have changed the address in the TVHarvest.exe.config to include 101 for Perth. One thing I might try tonight is one of the other states to see if I have the same problem I guess. I have started the guide from scratch a couple of times also.

Cheers.

Re: Perth Australian EPG

Hi Sanity,

I don't use the Quickguide method (I do it the long way) but one thing that stands out to me is that it is on the Date translation that it is failing on.

I think I read the dates on your PC need to be in the dd/mm/ format so you might want to check your regional and date setting to make sure they are set for Austrailia.

Good luck.

Re: Perth Australian EPG

Hi Sanity,

I think that the problem that you are having may relate to the time setting in Tv Harvest Config file you will notice that the setting that is default is set to +1100 this is the setting for Melbourne daylight savings time - i'm prettuy sure that I originally got the same error when I set it to +900 originally by mistake.

To fix your problem we need to work out the hour setting that suits perth day light savings. as far as I can figure (this may be wrong) Perth is 3 hours behind Melbourne so you should change the TV harvest Config file to +1400.

Try that and see how you go, if that doesn't work we'll try something else.

Did you run the Caspol off ap during your setup?

Re: Perth Australian EPG

For Perth the TVHarvest setting should be +0800...that's what mines at and it works fine!

I actually had this problem but I didn't get the same error message as I'm not using Quickguide. I originally set mine a +800 and it didn't like it at all

Good luck

Re: Perth Australian EPG

Thanks for your replies.

I eventually sorted out the problem. Althought I admit from the error message the problem appeared date related it didn't end up directly related to that at all. I had the date format set correctly on my computer and I had the time set to +800 in the TVHarvest.exe.config file. What it turned out to be was that I needed to make sure the "channel ID" in the ChannelInfo.xml file matched the "channel ID" in the listing2.xml that TVHarvest created. The guide that I was reading didn't mention that.

If anyones interested I'll have a go at rewriting a guide specifically for Perth in a step-by-step method. Post interest here and I'll try my best with the time I have.

Re: Perth Australian EPG

Hi Sanity

I would greatly appreciate that as I am having trouble, I think it might be to do with my firewall but I am not sure.

Regards
Chris
