Problems with QuickGuide/TVHarvest

Updated EPG Walk Through - Quickguide/TVHarvest

After reading the instructions there - and then some more in this sub forum - I still cannot get my EPG to work.

I've edited the XML files as required - carefully making sure the spelling is correct and all. When I run the QuickGuide.EXE file I get this error:

Error: could not find part of the path: "C:\WINDOWS\ehome\EPGXMLWriterParts\header.txt ".
and then a whole stack more of junk

if I look in that folder C:\Windows\ehome\ there is no "EPGXMLWriterParts" folder - ???

so obviously something is wrong there.

any ideas?

PS.
I also tried EPGRunner - and it just failed. I tried looking up the error and no-one had reported it - so I gave up on that too.

OK - have you tried uninstalling Quickguide and starting over with Bladerunner?

If not, give that a go - it's the same setup as what you've already tried but all wrapped up in an easy installer.

Hi ranz,

now it's 3 out of 3 replies say to use Bladerunner...you're just gonna have to give it a go . I used to successfully use Harvest and QG the manual way but Bladerunner just takes all the pain away.

Cheers

Sambooka

Re: Problems with QuickGuide/TVHarvest

Grr I still haven't had a chance to put it on yet!

everytime I get a chance the TV is in use - and then "stuff" just happens and I forget

I'm annoyed too coz I'm going to have to replace my HDD as it is really rattly (brand new 400GB SATA Seagate). All I can hear when watching TV is the HDD crackling away.

This means that I'm going to need to ghost the HDD to another HDD then send the other back under warranty - then get a replacement and ghost it again to the new one!! GRR !!

Wow that MS keyboard on the front page looks cool might have to get it

Hello Ranz,

Not surprised to "hear" about the Seagate noise...
If you decide to change, get a couple of Matrox or Samsung HDD; they are the quiest drive you can get. Also, you should try to use them in RAID 0 if you can (but keep the OS in RAID 1 for redundancy). That should give you fast 'n quiet results.

Cheers,
Spife
