Smile Set top box connection via video to USB device

I currently have a dual digital tuner card in my VMC for FTA channels and want to connect it to my Transact Set top box which output composite and S-video.

Can you just use a video to usb adapter like this with Media centre?

Since I don’t need the tuner part I thought this may say some dollars and complexity.
